be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (LotR: Eowyn: no more waiting)
I'm having a bad day and really want to write, but mostly original fiction and I don't even know where to start.

So I'm going to take prompts for Cabin Fever, Mightier Than The Sword, Monster Squad, Hunted, & Unmasked. Whatever you want. I'm open to almost any pairing, and I love all of the characters. I am especially interested in doing Unmasked right now, but whatever hits your fancy.

Seriously, I could use the writing and I need the shove prompts will give. :D?

It's time for [community profile] isurrendered  shenanigans, guys! WHEE.

1. Comment to this post with "I surrender!" and I'll assign you the basis of some TV show idea. (post-apocalyptic scifi-fi drama, fantasy, noir gumshoe pulp, criminal procedure...IN SPACE, historical drama WITH WEREWOLVES, etc.).
2. Create a cast of characters, including the actors who'd play them.
3. Add in any actor photos, character bios, and show synopsis that you want.
4. Post to your own journal and/or the isurrendered community on DW or LJ.

PROMPT: from [personal profile] whynot : Superheroing ain't what it used to be. Superheroes are getting disillusioned, giving into the glitz of the paparazzi and reality TV, but there is one hero who still believes in doing good.
TITLE: Unmasked
TYPE: Drama/sci-fi, in 13-episode seasons.
SETTING: 2040, Earth.
OPENING CREDITS SONG: Crash Years - The New Pornographers
CLOSING CREDITS SONG: Help I'm Alive - Metric
SYNOPSIS: Nicole Clary has spent her entire life waiting for this - graduation day and her induction into the ranks of superheroes. She knows the rules inside out - no masks, no secret identities, follow orders. What she doesn't expect is to find that the superheroes the world so looks up to seem more like supervillains up close. At first she just thinks they're too caught up with fame and wealth and power, but it doesn't take long for her to begin to realize that the League has committed horrible crimes in the name of justice and peace. Horrified, she looks for help in an unlikely place - a paralyzed first-generation superhero and her gang of teen masked, unregistered vigilantes.

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Writing: if nothing else)

one: that one massive project of mine, a mix and exposition for an original project so I can get it out of the way and shoved into a To Write Much Later folder. the only constant (being change), a monster squad mix.

two: we should talk about The Eagle, I feel. and write awesome fic for it! you guys, there is a kink meme! it is tiny, and you all know my hang-ups with porn (I project my privacy issues EVERYWHERE), but I am hopeful that there will also be awesome fic that is not in fact all about the sex! I want more book verse Esca/Marcus/Cottia fic! I want more movie verse Esca/Marcus fic, and how eventually they meet up with Cottia and maybe they all head into the far wilderness somewhere else and are awesome forever? I DUNNO. I JUST WANT FIC. CAN THERE BE FIC. Can we talk about how much fun this movie is and how utterly gay it was and how I am already vidding it? (It is totally just a draft until I get actually decent source. Yes.) and how apparently there needs to be road warriors post-apocalyptic AU fic?

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (DW: Amy: we are not birds)
First genderswap meme response up here: Golden Age Pevensies & Queen Cassia, picspam & accompanying fic. Yes, that is a new community. I wanted someplace to dump things that wasn't my personal journal. More genderswap replies coming later for: Supernatural, Merlin, Downton Abbey & White Collar.

and now for the Awesome Ladies meme!

the list:

1. Susan Pevensie (Narnia)
2. Keladry of Mindelan (Protector of the Small)
3. Jesse Flores (T:SCC)
4. Amy Pond (Doctor Who)
5. Nikita (Nikita)
6. Lady Mary Crawley (Downton Abbey)
7. Anastasia "Dee" Dualla (Battlestar Galactica)

12. Holland Donaghue (OC)
13. River Song (Doctor Who)
14. Jenny Lewis (Primeval)
15. Eowyn (Lord of the Rings)

(do you know how hard this was to narrow down? I wanted to put EVERYONE on there. I switched names in and out for probably half an hour before settling on this. SO MANY LADIES.)

and responses!

and that one meme with your WIP titles. I don't really have a WIP folder, just a writing one, but let's see what I've got in there.

I have got to finish some of this stuff. )

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Primeval: Stephen&Connor: like brothers)
+ still sick! but I'm pretty sure everyone is. :P

+ PRIMEVAL, OMG. This season is killer.

+ White Collar has returned! JOY, etc. And I just remain so pleased that though Neal and Peter are the main characters, they really utilize everyone they've got. Jones and Diana and Sara and Elizabeth aren't just tossed out. Which :D (P.S. LOLZ NEAL TRYING TO FIGHT.)

+ Nikita soon? Yes? I thought it was tomorrow, but I'm not seeing any place saying that. Maybe next week.

+ So they're adapting Being Human to America/Canada. I've watched about half the first season of the UK version and loved it (and then got busy and couldn't finish it).some of it spoilery )

+ The Cape is out - very classic superhero, etc. I'm watching for Summer Glau, but the story is interesting enough that I'm not pulling out anyways. At least not yet.

+ I have had my first and second day of classes, and seen all four. I think I'm going to enjoy them (well, not Statistics much, but I won't hate it). I already know one of my teachers is awesome, and the other three all seem very engaging and fun, and the subjects are ones I really like. So yay!

and lastly, this meme is going around again, and I can never resist it.

Give me the title of a story I've never written, and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any or all of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, and possibly a short excerpt as well.

I have turned in all my applications except for the one that is due on the 1st of February! I am assembling some poetry for consideration in scholarships at two of them, which involves a great deal of polishing and going "aaaaaagh why don't I write short stories that are not fannish!".

ALSO I did Yuletide, because I was eligible for the first time eveeer and I wasn't going to pass up on that. And I got Eagle of the Ninth fic!

Aedific─üre, by opalmatrix. It is utterly delightful and everything I wanted. I can't believe how lucky I got! IT'S AWESOME. It is subtle, subtle Esca/Marcus/Cottia OT3 as they build the farm and tiptoe around each other and become bestest best friends eveeeeeer. :DDD you should totally read it.

And I wrote:

The Things We Say Are True
Skyhigh. PG-13. Penny/Gwen, Warren.
“I’ve broken a lot of personal rules for you,” Penny says.

Which was quite fun to write, in the end. I really enjoyed it. :D

in other news, I somehow ended up creating a three-part, 21 song fanmix for what's really nothing more than me messing around with typical procedurals/supernatural hunting shows. Or what I had thought was just me having fun! Apparently sometime my brain got serious over it? NO. Bad brain! get back to Cabin Fever, it needs you! no more new projects!

also, my dad comes home this week sometime (which is good, mostly, though difficult as always), school is about to start up again (OMG YAY my schedule is so pretty this spring!), I have actual free time for another week, I'm doing some secretary work for my mom which I shall get paid for, and in general things are shaping up! YAY. TRIPLE YAY. IMAGINE ME GRINNING HAPPILY HERE. The only downside is me having been sick for a week, but even that is getting better!

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (DW: Amy: passionately curious)
The first TEN people to comment in this post get to request ~something~ of any pairing/character of their choosing from me. In return, they have to post this in their journal. If you absolutely can't write, you can offer drawings or icons or something instead (meta? picspams? reasons why that character/pairing rocks/doesn't rock?).
You guys know my fandoms - I'll make an effort at anything. 9/10

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (HL: Methos: not afraid to run away)
So Aidan's gone as of Friday afternoon (Mary's staying for three weeks, yay!). We went to the beach, to the springs, played Ultimate Frisbee, had a party, and played possibly illegal amounts of board and card games. I socialized for what ended up being almost five days. Still utterly exhausted and anti-social. I slept badly Friday night, woke up three times or so.

Yesterday night I didn't get enough sleep either, for other reasons. Mostly involving The Roach Saga. (I HATE roaches, guys. SO MUCH.) About five in the morning today a roach took it into it's head to be as obnoxious to Mary as possible, including running across her face. *shudder* Then it got onto my bed, and things spiraled out of control from there until Mary was sleeping on the couch in the living room and Katherine and I had the lights on and were watching Primeval (the last four episodes of Season 3) and White Collar's first episode on my bed, while encouraging our dog to kill any roaches she found in our room. So yeah. I got... six hours of sleep last night? I've been alternating between hyper and looking drugged all day. Anyway, that all led to the Great Roach Hunt, wherein Kat and Mary and I spent large portions of today clearing out my room. Really thoroughly.

Come on down to metatardis!
Where we are all definitely madmen in boxes.

It's going to be pretty fabulous, guys. There have already been some great meta-pieces, and I know there'll be more. You should drop by!

Vid recs! I have four.

Your Ghost by [ profile] charmax is a devastating and beautiful Winchester family epic. The lyrics are utterly perfect, the song is beautiful with the right melancholy to it, and the story told is wonderful. Three generations of Campbells/Winchesters, with all their utter tragedy!

Never Gonna Leave Me by [ profile] lee_fragilidad is a Syfy Alice vid, Alice/Hatter, and it's just the right mix of upbeat running/fighting and wishful glances. The cutting is sharp and the whole thing is really well-constructed.

Bad Romance by [personal profile] such_heights may have me convinced that I need to finish watching S2 of Merlin. (I'm.. .not sure why I haven't, actually.) But I definitely have to watch the Morgause episodes, and this vid is why. Gwen/Morgana/Morgause love triangle! WANT.

Lullaby For A Stormy Night by [personal profile] such_heights is the tiny!Amy and Eleven vid we all knew we wanted. So adorable, omg. ♥

On TV-watching fronts! White Collar 2x01 was quite lovely. Neal and Peter were in fine bickering form, Mozzie played a great role. I only wish there had been more (MUCH MORE) of El and Diana, and that that one Scare hadn't happened at the end.spoilerrrrrs )

Primeval is pretty wonderful - I wish it was more racially diverse, but they are fairly decent on delivering Awesome Ladies Being Awesome and there is no shortage of handsome men and I am shallow. spoilers through 3x03 )

Femgenficathon it is! this needs to be DONE. I need to move on! wait what why am I writing Claudia Brown/Jenny Lewis fic all of a sudden. *eyes* but I wanted to write Rosalie fic? except... I guess that's not happening.

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (SPN: Jo: a great big world)
+ I, uh, may or may not have revamped all my icons. Again. (Note: the one icon that has remained constant since more or less the beginning is Susan-being-kickass. The icon might change, but it's the one type of icon I think I've always had. SUSAN.)

+ it's not my fault! it's just, there was Jo, and I LOVE Jo, and plus it was a wanderlust icon! and things just kept spiraling completely out of control from there. (also WANDERLUST. I have it so badly.)

+ People have been wonderfully awesome today! flist, carry on being awesome! <333

+ One thing that was not particularly awesome - in the lesson at Sunday school today, the teacher spent a good five-ten minutes talking about how it's your fault (and only yours) if you're upset, or sad. Which - okay, I think I'm a mindset where I can actually talk intelligently about this for a moment. rambling for a moment. )

+ Huh! I still feel happy. This is good.

+ You guys, the "gotcha" moment from the Doctor Who finale is now guaranteed to make me start crying. Actual tears! OH SEASON FIVE, how so AWESOME?

+ I have writing mojo back! Interestingly enough, not for fanfic at all (oops! uh. I will get those things I need to write done! I will! Just not today. Or this week.). In fact, it is all for original fic, Harborverse and then I've got some 2K of character outlining and scene bits for something to put in the WIP folder and come back to later. Or possibly I'll just write today, whatever I want to, because I have inspiration and I have been missing this so much, so MUCH. The joy of writing is a beautiful thing, and I really needed that yesterday, and I love the feeling and the joy of visualizing things and writing them down and I just love it so so much. <3333 I'm off to write now!

ETA: I almost forgot! I wanted to link you to all to this fantastic anti-rape ad - apparently it is being run in Scotland? It is really well-done.

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (CM: Prentiss: what is this fuckery?)
ugh, fail.

This one, where WWII and concentration camps are co-opted for magical white love.

Or the one where people have *standards* for female characters. That mostly seem to involve bashing them? Including MARTHA JONES?

Today at park day, a lot of the boys got together, caught a lizard, and started trying to feed it to ants. Alive. Because this was fun? My brother told them to stop and then came to my mom when they didn't, whereupon my mom stormed over, released the lizard, and forced them to actually think about what they were doing for a good fifteen minutes, making me full of joy at her righteous wrath, because I was also full of wrath. (Mrs. T took pictures of them in a circle getting chewed out. Sometimes I love moms and their crazy senses of humor.)

Awesome things, on the other hand!

My sister will be here MONDAY, with her husband. wheee! I am so excited. I have only met him once before, and I'm pleased to get to see him again, and to get my sister for almost a month. *so excited*

There is a Female Character Friending Meme going on! On DW and LJ. I approve. :D

[ profile] spnsupporting , a comm for claiming and writing minor SPN characters! I'll put my table here when I get it. :D I'm going to be requesting mostly Team Free Will: The Next Generation, and hopefully will continue their story. <333

A cut to put the table behind! )
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (GK: Walt: no idea what we're doing)
*facepalm* Am fairly certain my body doesn't even know the definition of good timing. But I am feeling pretty much all better today, which is good! Just the remnants of a sore throat. :D thanks for the good wishes, guys.

okay! one not-fun-at-all thing (and possibly even triggering for sexual violence victims, due to his phrasing) - TWoP's Jacob says some really nasty things about Amy Pond (and looking at his recent recaplet of Vincent and the Doctor, he also uses the phrase "bipolar bullshit", which. Okay, I don't have the time tonight to discuss this, because I will melt down.)

In happier things!

Harborverse - I haven't talked about it in a while, but I've been poking at Part 2 for a bit, working out plot, and yesterday/today I figured out that I've been focused on the wrong area - Cedric isn't the focus of the story. It's really all about Holland, and I'm so pleased about that. I couldn't make her central before because I couldn't figure out what she was doing, but now she has a plot arc and a character arc, with joining the Provosts and various other Things, and I'm really excited to write her, and her with Cedric, and her with Awesome People of the Provost and Awesome Mafia Leaders and her with Magic Beings. And basically just excited to be writing original regularly again, omg. Donaghues, I have miiiiissed you. (Things I need to do - rewrite Part 1. Perhaps I will get the newest rough draft done for NaNo this year? I want to set a higher goal for myself, and it's really a completely different story than the original Part 1. Also rough drafted, which is crazy for me.) Yay writing! *flails hands* SO HAPPY.

So I watched an episode and a half of House with my dad tonight (yeah, I know, he watches House - it always surprises me, but I'm pretty sure it's more about the health things than anything). It was pretty fun! I don't think I'd watch it on a regular basis, but it was really nice to have something to do with my dad that we were both interested and active in - I think he liked that he got to explain most of the relationships and characters, as I only know the basics and character names, and that I was watching something with him. So yay!

I've friended several new people recently - for those of you who are relatively new, I'm Betsy (or Beth, or Elisabeth, or Be), I love writing and fandom and music, and in RL I exhibit many of the symptoms of bipolar disorder, which causes me problems. I dunno! It's pretty easy to figure me out, really. I love to talk to people, and chatter about fannish things.

I HAVE SUCH AN AWESOME FLIST. <333333 You guys are just SO FUN and intelligent and smart and talented - it's really incredible. I love you guys so much, I really do. I've had some rough times lately, as you know, and your warmth and kindness have been indescribably helpful, as have you simply being your wonderful selves on my flist.

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (SPN: Castiel: this altogether thunder)
+ Hey guys! the [ profile] femgenficathon is running! sign-ups just finished a bit ago. I picked #17: The worst walls are never the ones you find in your way. The worst walls are the ones you put there--you build yourself. Those are the high ones, the thick ones, the ones with no doors in. --Ursula K. LeGuin (born October 21, 1929), present-day American author, particularly well-known in the science fiction and fantasy genres.

Now, clearly this is a VERY Susan quote, but I am considering writing about someone else, as I am a little Susan/Narnia-ed out. (Well, not really, but I don't know if I could write enough new material on Susan for it.) My options are varied, but I am considering a Criminal Minds lady, or perhaps Samantha Carter? I like the Leverage ladies too, and the SPN ladies! ANNA OMG she would be a good pick! but I do not know if I can write enough of her. I don't think I have a good enough handle on her awesomeness. Morgana, though I have watched, uh, almost none of Season 2? I feel a desire to write Doctor Who or Torchwood, toooo. GUYS I CANNOT PICK there are so many awesome ladies with so many barriers! HELP.

+ WHILE WE'RE ON SPN (even though we weren't) OMG 100 EPISODES I can't even. guys, this is the first show I ever started watching regularly, last year somewhere in the middle of Season 4, and I have been faithful ever since, and it has not failed me. by not failing me, I mean that it has gotten CRACKIER and CRACKIER in the awesomest of ways, with fanservice galore. They have even delivered some on ladies being awesome! though I would like more. I would ALWAYS like more.

and this episode! oh, this episode.keymash OMG AKSLHDGLKSHD;G SPN <33333333 )

And now poetry!

Feeling all better - apparently it was a 24 hour virus or food poisoning. My stomach is not happy with me for the not-eating-for-two-days thing, but other than that I'm fine.

for the record, noooo there hasn't been snippets and short char profiles for Cabin Fever's spinoff in a doc on my computer for a while now. *shifty* and it isn't called Contact. and I haven't cast Tahmoh Penikett or Noel Clarke or Rekha Sharma or Naoko Mori as leads. uh.

okay, now that the house is mostly clean (omg the kids TRASHED it while I was sick aaaaaah!) and I've planned dinners through Sat. and made a grocery list for Papa and stuff, now I just have to do that take-home test, finish the essay, get my bag ready, make dinner, clear the refrigerator, clean MY room, put away the groceries, and then I'm free to do ScriptFrenzy, which I am behind on due to the cramps from hell on Saturday and barely being capable of intelligent thought Monday. wait, scratch that. incapable of intelligent thought. coherent, if you were lucky.

mmm, I want to edit up this poem that's been hanging out in my documents for a while. *eyes it* the first stanza is BOTHERING me.
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Misc: Pic: no good reason to act her age)
FIRST and most importantly as well! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [ profile] zempasuchil . I hope it is a fabulous one. :D I would write you things, but I am afraid that I am too busy. <33333 I shall make do with good wishes and cheer! LOVE YOU LOTS AND LOTS.

Speaking of busy: this Saturday my mom leaves for New Zealand. She'll be gone for a week attending my sister's wedding. My older sister is out West skiing with her boyfriend and his family. Essentially, this means that I'm in charge of meals, cleaning, school, and getting everyone (including me) to school/baseball/other places on time for a week. This will Not Be Fun, especially because both of my younger siblings are kind of jerks when it comes to cleaning. I do almost all of the cleaning in the house - they do some yard work on Saturdays and make lots of messes. (Yesterday night I found molded over steak in the back of the stove, which I had had no occasion to use or clean since last Friday. I had mistakenly assumed that others weren't just dumping dirty frying pans and plates in there.) When I ask them to clean, they don't. When I get angry at them because of that, they yell and say that I never do anything. At which point I go really quiet and kind of scary. It is not fun.

Also: ScriptFrenzy and Remix, same time. I can... totally do this? Uh. TOTALLY. well, I can, but it'll be tough. but I am SO PLEASED to be writing Cabin Fever, SO PLEASED you have no idea. I have been needing a new original fic project to distract me from wanting to turn to go nowhere with you into a whole 'verse.

Three tests recently - one today, one last Tuesday, one take-home due next Tuesday. Got a 61% on the Biology test, which is killing me inside. I just. GAH. It's definitely my fault, there. *facepalm*

Okay time for happy things. happy things like writing memes! TWO OF THEM. an old favorite and one picked up from fahye.

Ask me a question about one of my fics -- characters, plot, what happened before or after, what the writing process was like, what scenes I cut or changed, other ways the fic could have gone, relevant bits of backstory/headcanon/worldbuilding, what a certain line or scene meant or was in reference to, what various characters were doing offscreen, or anything else you can think of. Questions can be as silly/serious/sexy as you like.

Give me the title of a story I've never written, and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, or something else that I want readers to know.

ETA: THAT'S IT I'M GOING HOME AND MAKING SOMETHING WITH SUGAR OR AT LEAST VAGUELY SWEET AND NOTHING CAN STOP ME I SWEAR TO GOD. *glitter rage meltdown* Shit, I knew I was heading towards this. It's what I was trying to avoid with cathartic sad TV, which worked but not as long as I'd hoped. Now I'm tired and crying in the school library for NO REASON whatsoever. goddamnit. I have a driving test tomorrow and I cannot fail it and. I just.

going home. making sugar. doing writing memes and fixing Pevensies/Winchester of Doom and I am going to HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.

so even though I'm pretty sure most of my f-list has already seen this (I AM LATE TO THE PARTY, SO LATE), [ profile] caramelsilver is hosting a three-sentence multifandom ficathon. no huge commitment, easy to just drop by and write a few and receive a few fics (I've gotten three out of the two prompts I managed to drop off early on). there's like, 3 pages of prompts already, so you're sure to find something to write. have fun!

(yeah, totally not alive yet. maybe end of this week? I dunno when I'll be fully back, probably when I manage to finish this semester. omg. :( *dies*)
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Misc: Pic: sunrise through the mist)
hi guys, this is just a short drop-by.

+ I have been reading my friends list, just not commenting on much of anything. time time time! I has none of it. sorry.

+ I kind of sort of really hate my period. cramps, I have plenty of.

+ nanowrimo is actually going pretty well. I'm still a little bit behind, but not by enough to actually be worried about, especially if I can get in 3K today (which, uh, I can, since I can write 1000 words in 15 minutes, consistently).

so yeah. I've been keeping an eye on the progress of those of you who are doing it, but I'm just curious - where is everyone? wordcount, how's the story going?

+ something is totally relevant to interests! I am writing, for my English class, a 1-1.5K paper on social interaction on the internet and how it can totally be good for teenagers and other such things. obviously, I'll be drawing on personal experience - I found a journal called 'Computers in Human Behavior' (!!!) which has several good articles, and I was wondering if any of you knew any good articles I could use. I'd ask for blog posts, but citing them would be... problematic. :P
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Misc: Text: own that shit)
oh hai guiz.

so, yeah, this is the obligatory 'IT'S NOVEMBER' post in which I tell you things you already know. like the fact that I'm crazy and am doing NaNoWriMo again this year and so will be extremely busy and will probably miss half your posts and/or forget to comment on them. sorry! I'll probably emerge from my cave in December, at which point I'm really hoping I'll not only have finished NaNo but three of my classes and the crossover exchange. so yeah.

in World View class on Friday, depression came up. I wanted so badly to be able to talk coherently about it and explain some things, because one of the girls was being an idiot about it, but my brain was too busy completely freaking to handle talking about it beyond telling her quietly "You are not qualified to deal with someone who is suicidally depressive. Make sure they get help." I want so much to be able to talk about these things in RL as well as online, but I just fall to pieces whenever I have to talk about it. I think mostly I was worried if I talked too much about it I would let personal details slip?
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Narnia: Susan: the queen save god)
my sister, being awesome, left her laptop behind for me yesterday and today, and now I'm doing school and/or writing. a lot of writing! so at least this is good for something, yes?
