semi-coherent now

The non-angst of Merlin! It is killing me with joy!

Wait that's a lie. MERLIN IS ANGSTY TOO. It's just so MUCH LESS ANGSTY than Narnia or Supernatural. ALSO, THE ANGST ALMOST ALWAYS TURNS OUT WELL. Like, all sorts of people get saved and Arthur and Merlin always survive and WHOOPS THERE GO ALL MY SENSES AGAIN. GONE.

I'll never get any school done in this state.

So far I've watched 1, 2, 3, 4, and then skipped forward and watched 10, 11 and 13. I just started with the ones that are, y'know, awesomest.

ALSO UNICORNS. AND CAIRNS. AND WELSH. AND HOW THERE ISN'T AN ENGLAND.

And in 3, when Morgana convinces Arthur to help them kill the Afanc, Merlin's waiting in the courtyard and Arthur comes out and unsheathes his sword and just keeps walking and I go all 'eeeeeeeeeee *flails*' because THE AWESOMENESS, IT IS TOO MUCH.

[livejournal.com profile] rabidline is awesome, btw, because now I have a Merlin-group icon! Although it does not say 'Team Kickass', it is kind of amazingly beautiful, so I can live with this. XD It does, after all, have Team Kickass on it now. What can I say? SHE IS AWESOME AND LOVED MUCHLY. <333

ETA: So, I think the theme of Merlin: Season 1 might be symmetry. Two sides of a coin, "I'm only here because of them" (he's only here because of you), a life for a life, etc. etc. AWESOME.

be careful what you wished for

YAY. YOU GOT INTO MERLIN? ISN'T IT EPIC.

Hahahaha, the show may not have that much angst, but oh, the fanfiction. It is literally made of H/C, angst, and drama. XD

Narnia? Well, it doens't have THAT much angst.

Narnia IS angst. The Golden Age battles and the siblings almost dying multiple times (thank goodness for cordial). Being yanked out of Narnia, not dealing, going back, banned from Narnia permanently - these kids are SO MESSED UP. I feel very sorry for them.

Well, in Narnia canon it is very happy and fluffy. In the movies, and in my personal canon, it is MADNESS AND ANGST AND DEATH ALL OVER. D:

Merlin, in comparison, is just... fluffy and happy. I MEAN, COME ON. UNICORNS.

Ah. *facepalm* It's been a little too long since I've totally buried myself in Narnia. I actually FORGOT about half of that angst. :\

Personally, I'm not a very big fan of the book canon. I'd much rather all the angst. It's what I thrive off in most fandoms anyways.

Merlin is very fluffy. But if you try and incorporate the original legend, as a lot of fic does, ANGST.

Fo' shiz, Merlin came in after I had spent a few months completely immersed in Narnia, and it was like, "Oh yeah! Fic that isn't completely dark and angst, I remember those." It was a complete 180, though if I push it more, it's 360, 'cos there is so much angst potential in Merlin (go, Pendragon family dysfunction!).

How is this show going to reconcile the glittery crack with the tragic end we (think we) know is coming?!

Ehehe. Narnia = angst. Merlin = FLUFFY CRACK. With lots of potential angst.

I... really don't know. D: I mean, they've dropped some hints (Mordred, Excalibur, Morgana being weird and a bit scary sometimes).

Honestly, I'm not sure I'd mind at all if they DIDN'T reconcile it. Just left it glittery crack, you know? I'd like that. XD I mean, I finally found a show I can watch with my younger siblings without worrying about scarring them for life, which is awesome.
