hold onto that feeling

Things[livejournal.com profile] lassiterfics told me to talk about.

church
I generally avoid talking religion on my journal, along with politics, because they're such explosive subjects, but um, church. Well. First off, at my church I work in the children's church section, so I'm never actually listening to sermons. This is actually part of my reason for working with the kids - the other two are that I like kids even when they're driving me insane and that almost all of the teens actually worth talking to at my church work there. I... don't really have a solidified opinion of church, mostly because I'm still hashing out all my issues with religion (sometimes by fic!) and church is so intricately linked to those. So yeah.

being the moon
I forget where I talked about picking my username before, but I happen to have a huge fondness for the moon and nighttime and gods who patronize it (Diana! Artemis! Luna! Selene! Phoebe! Tsukuyomi! Tilion! Hermes, god of thieves!). It is quite possible that this is why I take so to Bedlam's portrayal of Edmund as the King of Evening/Shadowmaster, supposed to look with kindness on traitors. Wandering off-subject! In short, me and the moon are pretty much BFF.

many siblings!
BEST. THING. EVER. They're hilarious and awesome and we have about zero boundaries with each other and they can be completely jerks sometimes but they are still my family, so I get angry at them when they do stupid things and am insanely happy when they do something wonderful and I snicker when they do things like put stones in each other's beds (Esther and Katherine's ongoing feud) or come in dripping and muddy from running around in the rain and sitting in puddles to cover themselves with mud (Sam and Katherine, frequently) or can seriously live out of the back of their trunk (Esther. I'm not kidding, either - she has a swimsuit, a towel, at least three changes of clothing most of the time, any groceries she gets (her breakfast and lunch), most of her schoolbooks, and her purse has everything from aspirin to sunglasses to a nail file to almost any improbable thing you could think of, also her laptop and anything she needs to teach her kids). The only problem is that I am insanely protective of all of them, which gets hard when there's five of them, often doing stupid stupid things! But I love them anyways.

homeschool
god I am so glad I was homeschooled. And I could talk about homeschooling for about five years, so let's just leave it at that, hm? Except yeah, I know it's not for everyone, I'm just an anti-social person who would die in public school/get expelled.

my favorite place in the world
I dunno yet! I love the Springs, I loved Toronto when I was there, and Harvard, and Chicago, and Boston, and New York, and I love the small corners of my town because me and Florida have a love-hate relationship, and I love England and Germany and Italy and Japan and China and really all of Europe from afar. I'm open-minded when it comes to loving places - it's why so much of what I write ends up being about traveling and new places.

Moments in the past few days.

While playing Set (it's a matching card game) with Kat and Sam, said completely deadpan, "They come in the night you know," and continued playing as if nothing had happened, effectively freaking them out. Yay!

Took down Kat's and my bunkbed, scrubbed it, got most of my room cleared out and ready for the old wallpaper to be steamed off and new wallpaper put up.

Cleaned out my bookcase - four shelves of papers and books with an inordinate amount of maps and name lists and drabbles and things I need to keep writing if I can just remember the plot I started with.

Thought 'I need to be working on narniaexchange now' multiple times.

Realized that although I thought I was writing Mary&Lea for the next installment of Mary 'verse, what I was really writing was Mary/Lea. For instance. Mary thinks about ying and yang and the imbalance of power and how pale her arms look when compared to Lea's dark tan. Also. "Imagine a world with no time," Lea says. Mary brushes her fingers against Lea as she thinks, I'd like that.

Repeated face-palming ensued.

SLKFDS MARY/LEA WOOT
Leah sounds awesome, even though I've only heard about her from [livejournal.com profile] animus_wyrmis who wrote this Lea/Angela thing which was <33333. er, tangent. but yes, Leah! yay werewolves!

WEREWOOOOLVES!
It is proving distinctly interesting to write and I don't know if it will ever go explicit, but uh, yeah.

She told me she wrote that! I'm trying to convince her to post it so I can read it. XD

Ahahaha, here's to hashing out issues through fic. I FEEL YA. You and your siblings sound like awesometiems, eeeee. Are they all homeschooled too?

I think that may be why I like Susan and Edmund so much, because hi issues similar to mine!

Yup, all of us homeschooled, every one!

Also! I was going through my papers and found about a page and a half with part of a Susan/Edmund traveling the world post-LB fic that I really want to finish sometime. *thoughtful*

Man, sometimes I wish I had more siblings. It's just me and my brother and it is not exciting at all--although that might be 'cause we're not that close, and that might be 'cause I went away to school, so.

Was homeschooling the most awesome thing ever? Did you have lessons with your siblings or by yourself? Did you ever want to go to a day school?

Homeschooling was awesome. Sometimes we did stuff together (mostly the history, which we all learned together but took in at different levels of competence) and often apart (math, handwriting, etc.). The older kids help the younger ones, it's awesome, and I've only ever considered going to a day school because of advanced classes. Which I'm going to get dual-enrolling, so! XD

ALSO ALSO. I still want to see this Leah/Angela!

That totally sounds awesome. :)

Maybe I'll post it! I was thinking that maybe I wouldn't, because I'm sure it'll be OOC, but then again it's not like I care about Meyer's characterizations, soo...

POST POST POST!

Who cares about OOC! My Mary is so OOC for what we see of her in BD (possessive of Jacob, obsessively clingy, never talks just does the hand thoughts thingie *shudder*).
