in these stones, horizons sing

I have a very odd history when it comes to watching TV. Very, very odd. As in, up until about six months ago I didn't watch any. At all. Except for maybe Jeopardy every so often.

I think it was around... December last year?... that I finally gave in to [livejournal.com profile] etharei 's loud singing of Supernatural's praise and watched it and promptly fell in love (though since it is, after all, a horror show, I had to read a recap before I could watch it to skip the scary parts). I am still in love, by the way, though it is distinctly worrying me with this fourth season. WORRYING ME GREATLY. *eyes Dean and Sam* SHAPE UP KIDS.

Then I succumbed to everyone in the world singing Merlin's praises (this also included Rei) and watched it and CANNOT WAIT FOR THE SECOND SEASON HURRY UP OKAY YOU GUYS? *eyes* Mostly I watch Merlin for the lulz and the drama. AND THE BOYS, OF COURSE, BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST TOO ADORABLE.

I watch Legend of the Seeker on and off now too, though that's more of a 'when I have lots of time' show.

... and then, this weekend, I fell with a spectacular bang and found the actor who can make me laugh and cry simultaneously BUT HE WAS ONLY THE DOCTOR FOR ONE SEASON ARRRGH.

YEAH THAT'S RIGHT YOU GUYS. I am watching Doctor Who ([livejournal.com profile] etharei , is it weird that I can at least indirectly blame you for THREE out of my FOUR TV shows? Or does it just mean that you have awesome taste?).

But.... but.. *wibbles* I liked the Ninth Doctor, can I have him back pls? No, seriously. David Tennant's cute and funny, but Christopher Eccleston ripped my heart out of my chest and then was all like 'OH WAIT LAUGH NOW!' I have never watched another actor who can do that. Never. Him with the Dalek in Episode 6 was heartrendingly sad and terrifying, and the finale made me sob. BOTH TIMES I'VE WATCHED IT.

I leave this random post of nostalgia with AWESOMENESS.

"Just this once, Rose! Everybody lives!"

Chris Eccleston does not get the loving he deserves. He was an awesome doctor (and Rose was totally fine his series, but I frickin' hate her in series two), but Ten is definitely a fan favorite. I think the writers have gotten a bit too used to relying on him, as well-- series four was a bit disappointing and the subsequent specials have been thoroughly mediocre. Here's to hoping the Moff & Matt Smith can breathe new life into the franchise.

As you may have noticed (due to the non-stop Terminator: The Summerbot Chronicles flail fest that has taken over my LJ), I watch entirely too much TV, and when I get hooked on something good, I need to post about it, like, constantly.

And I'm so not trying to turn you into me, because really I waste too much time on it. BUT. Before you get hooked on any other shows, YOU NEED TO WATCH BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. Trust me on this one.

David Tennant's good and all, and he has an adorable smile, but Eccleston was totally better. XD And that FINALE. I think, any other actors I would have yelled "DUES EX MACHINA!" at the screen, but they made it so... so good. Ahhhh! I dunno how to explain it? But honestly, I don't think I have ever seen anything so beautiful as him saying "Maybe it's time" and then Rose saying "I want you safe. My Doctor."

ACTUALLY! I have watched various parts of Buffy! I didn't put it down because, well, it's not a current show, and I like these four better. Buffy's okay what I've seen of it, and then there are some parts that are kind of awesome, but all in all I like these ones better.

I'm only on series 2 of Doctor Who, so we'll see how I end up liking it, but the first series was wicked brilliant. *hugs it happily*

You need to watch seasons 1-3 of Buffy in order. Then you will understand the awesome.

ECCLESTONNNN. He has the awesomest 'I am the Doctor' introduction EVAR.

'I can feel it. The turn of the Earth. The ground beneath our feet is spinning at a thousand miles an hour, and the entire planet is hurtling around the sun at sixty-seven thousand miles an hour. And I can feel it. We're falling through space, you and me. Clinging to the skin of this tiny little world, and if we let go...'

*runs off to watch again*

Thank you so much for this post. No one else around me seems to understand the awesomeness that is Christopher Eccleston. I cried so hard every single time he looked at Rose with that sadness in his eyes. I really need to see "The Doctor Dances" again now...
