be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Default)

today, I am here to rec you things.

all kinds of things!

first things first, and out of the way. I am fabulous. doing well, controlling my mood swings (yesterday with the aid of horribly sad TV - don't ask how that works, but it totally does. catharsis or something.), and getting lots of work done. signed up for Remix, and cannot wait. have been writing quite a bit, including ~1K of sequel-ish Edmund/Ianto hijinks. Unfortunately for easy writing, Jack just had to go and add onto Ianto's already considerable abandonment/intimacy issues, which means I cannot write gratuitous kissing until I resolve said ~issues~. also, it is raining and generally being spring-like in FL, and it is FANTASTIC. I cannot get over how much I have missed the azaleas and the tall tiny purple flowers and the clover and SPRIIIING. so pretty!

NOW FOR RECCING. you guys, this could take a while.

For this first one, though it's technically SPN fanfic you really don't need to know the show beyond Jake Tally got fried by demons after being spirited away, and he was a soldier in Afghanistan, and he was played by Aldis Hodge so HE WAS AWESOME. Ask What Answer I Can Find, by [livejournal.com profile] mercuryblue144 (who, during the 3-sentence ficathon wrote some of the most heartbreaking SPN commentfic EVER), in which Jake's sister is completely awesome and, just, wow you guys. This fic. This fic. Uses maths to make me cry.

In lighter reccing news, [livejournal.com profile] lassiterfics wrote SPN/HP fusion, in which they are all adorkable and Dean always loves the stubborn and nerdy people the best (SAM AND CAS).

You guys know how I don't really do RPF much? Well, this is RPF that I'll read, because it is gen and Mary McDonnell is adorable and terrifying and the cast of BSG hangs out with the casts of SG-1 and SGA and Greg Grunberg is a zombie-wrangler and then there is a ZOMBIE CAGE MATCH with Ben Browder. Seriously, there are no words to describe how awesome and absolutely hilarious that fic is.

hey, talking of cracky crossovers, Parker is an excellent thief. No, really. Once she stole MacGyver's duct tape. AND his swiss knife. (also the Doctor's screwdriver.) and speaking of the Doctor, Spaceman and All These Things I've Done are about, really, everyone in Doctor Who and Torchwood and they break my heart in the best of ways.

Back to HP, Could You Be A Little Less by [livejournal.com profile] the_birdnest hurts, because yeah that's how women are talked about a lot, and it sucks. To wash the bad taste out of your mouth after that depressing little affair, have a picspam about [livejournal.com profile] chairs favoritest real women and how awesome they are. (Answer: VERY.) Also another picspam, with gorgeous women in photoshoots in trees and dangling from planes and such things, by [livejournal.com profile] entwashian . Also the poem Princess by hradzka on DW. "Sweep the bastards off their feet" indeed! I APPROVE OF THIS IDEA.

[livejournal.com profile] marycontraire , this round of recs is for you. In a series of three, Kara being absolutely fabulous to Pink - courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] dualbunny - 'Cuz I Can, If God Is A DJ, and I'm Not Dead. While we're on Kara and Pink, I feel So What? gets her quite well. Annnnd rounding off the "Kara Thrace Is Awesomer Than You (And The Nuggets Call Her God)" category, Mainstream by [livejournal.com profile] charmax  is Kara before she goes crazy, proud and defiant and awesome and, well. She's going to make like lightning.

to round things off, SG-1 and SGA would like  to present how the SGC runs it's training days by [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic , which doesn't even really need a knowledge of canon beyond 'OMG THESE GUYS ARE CRAZY' though there are Season 5 spoilers, so watch out Meto and maybe save it for later. Also the SGC's automated phone service by [livejournal.com profile] mardahin and a story about how flying irreverent insubordinate space jocks, like, gravitate towards each other. Lastly, for which a full knowledge of SG-1 is absolutely required to watch or you won't get about half of it, High School Never Ends (AGH) by [livejournal.com profile] grav_ity and, for which minimal knowledge of SG-1 is required, Fun With Guns by [livejournal.com profile] jaffatech .

And now I'm going to go to sleep! WOOO.

EDIT: Fixed the link to the SGC training days story, thanks Mercury!
