be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (XMen: Charles/Eric: the waste of my love)
okay I have been a whiny twerp most of today. this is partially because I am cramping before my period (lol body thanks for stooping to new lows of putting me in pain) and I am still feeling restless and I am tired of cleaning house even though I have done very little of it this summer. any house cleaning feels like too much right now. (I literally spent a large portion of my junior year cleaning house for my mom. and a lot of that summer. and a lot of last fall.)

I'm also having a lot of trouble concentrating. and still utterly failing at crushes.

BUT NEVERTHELESS. between yesterday and today, I have managed to write almost 3K of X-Men fic (ANON ALL ANON SO ANON). it is on two different fics. so far only the first one is embarrassing, but the second one is fast approaching embarrassing too.

and I also suddenly feel a desire to work on that Edmund/Ianto sequel. It's set in the gap between Torchwood S1&2. Edmund takes a temporary job at Torchwood while he's on the run from something. There is Time Agent shenanigans and memory loss and I think Susan might come into it! It... will likely never get finished because there is a LOT of story to it.

which reminds me that I think Charles Xavier and Lucy Pevensie would get along SMASHINGLY. (he reminds her of Tumnus. something in his smile, bright and open. or maybe it's the blue of his eyes, or the tilt of his head. she's a regenerative mutant former queen of a fantasy country, he's a paralyzed telepath mutant professor. together with her sister they fight crime/prejudice/fear/hatred!)

also that I want all the icons.

and my new shiny laptop, even though I haven't ordered it yet. (tomorrow, I hope.)

oh snap dishes time.

this has been Betsy being utterly ridiculous. signing off for the next - uh, half hour? then I'll be back and writing again probably, because i am incorrigible and apparently can't go to sleep before like 1 in the morning and only then because that's when my mom goes to sleep and therefore checks on me.

I FEEL LIKE COMMENTFICCING WHO WANTS TO COMMENTFIC

First genderswap meme response up here: Golden Age Pevensies & Queen Cassia, picspam & accompanying fic. Yes, that is a new community. I wanted someplace to dump things that wasn't my personal journal. More genderswap replies coming later for: Supernatural, Merlin, Downton Abbey & White Collar.

and now for the Awesome Ladies meme!

the list:

1. Susan Pevensie (Narnia)
2. Keladry of Mindelan (Protector of the Small)
3. Jesse Flores (T:SCC)
4. Amy Pond (Doctor Who)
5. Nikita (Nikita)
6. Lady Mary Crawley (Downton Abbey)
7. Anastasia "Dee" Dualla (Battlestar Galactica)
8. Emily Prentiss (Criminal Minds)
9. Anna Milton (Supernatural)
10. Diana Barrigan (White Collar)
11. Kono Kalakaua (Hawaii Five-0)
12. Holland Donaghue (OC)
13. River Song (Doctor Who)
14. Jenny Lewis (Primeval)
15. Eowyn (Lord of the Rings)

(do you know how hard this was to narrow down? I wanted to put EVERYONE on there. I switched names in and out for probably half an hour before settling on this. SO MANY LADIES.)

and responses!

11 responses. )

and that one meme with your WIP titles. I don't really have a WIP folder, just a writing one, but let's see what I've got in there.

I have got to finish some of this stuff. )

Remix reveals are up! I have yet to actually get around to making up a list of recs from it, and at this rate I probably won't, but I might as well drop off mine!

Here's A Girl From A Dangerous Town (the Unbroken Heart Remix)
Torchwood. Lucia Moretti, Jack Harkness, Melissa Moretti. ~1500 words.

“No, Harkness, I’m not sleeping with you,” Lucia says firmly.

got home Saturday night - I had a great time, I've really missed hanging out with Leah and Esther. Also we had discussions about sex in the Bible. This included a long argument about whether or not Ruth and Boaz had sex, premarital sex and whether the Bible actually condemns it, and the following conversation:
Leah: He comforted me in the Biblical way.
Me: If we're talking Biblical, he plowed your furrows.

so socializing didn't kill me, yay! on the other hand, I'm really really wary about my dad's behavior today. he's been doing okay recently and I cautiously relaxed, but he's not doing so great today. *bites nails*

okay. off to write a 10-page paper, then a 2-page paper, then study for three tests (one Tuesday, two Thursday). and make sure I'm ready for my dress rehearsal for Pirates of Penzanze tomorrow.

also I'm going to need a beta for Remix, probably on Thursday or Friday? it'll be Torchwood.

ETA: oh yeah, like most people, I've got 7 DW invite codes. I'm putting them up for grabs here first, and eventually I'll be posting them to [site community profile] dw_codesharing .

I'm off! Be back Sunday.

Things I may or may not have done before I left - compiled a primer for myself on Major League Baseball rules, just to make sure I've got things right, and a list of all GK characters.

oh my god, you guys, and this is on top of the 2K of Edmund/Ianto sequel I've been poking at ever since I wrote the first one, and then Remix (which I should really get started on, obviously).

I'll have a lot of time in the car?

all kinds of things!

first things first, and out of the way. I am fabulous. doing well, controlling my mood swings (yesterday with the aid of horribly sad TV - don't ask how that works, but it totally does. catharsis or something.), and getting lots of work done. signed up for Remix, and cannot wait. have been writing quite a bit, including ~1K of sequel-ish Edmund/Ianto hijinks. Unfortunately for easy writing, Jack just had to go and add onto Ianto's already considerable abandonment/intimacy issues, which means I cannot write gratuitous kissing until I resolve said ~issues~. also, it is raining and generally being spring-like in FL, and it is FANTASTIC. I cannot get over how much I have missed the azaleas and the tall tiny purple flowers and the clover and SPRIIIING. so pretty!

NOW FOR RECCING. you guys, this could take a while.

Oh, fandom. You'll be the death of me yet. )

And now I'm going to go to sleep! WOOO.

EDIT: Fixed the link to the SGC training days story, thanks Mercury!

oh dear

Hey! I'm hoping to finish the Edmund meets Ianto (in a park, not a bar. the bar comes into it later. a lot.) thing for the 'a ficathon walks into a bar' challenge today or tomorrow, and will need a beta for it, because I'm pretty sure half of this is being written in a state of mind most commonly known as 'kinda cracked out.'

Fic is verging on 2K, not done, and contains so far: time loops, parks, beer, minotaurs, unknown languages, crack, conversational jabs, snark, and flirting. It'll probably contain by the end: Edmund punching Jack, goring by minotaurs, resets, shared angst, ridiculous pranks, absolutely no explanation of what Edmund's doing in Cardiff, and solving the problem. Somehow.

Timewise, this is set shortly post Cyberwoman for Torchwood and after The Silver Chair but other than that unknown for Narnia.
