*points sternly* Feel better! ... is it working yet?
"Might Yet Be": Agh, my favorite part was EVERYTHING, for reals. An "[x] things" story for Jesse Flores!! I love that you wrote a Sarah & Jesse team-up after present-day "Born to Run" - and was that a bit of Sarah/Jesse sexual tension, deliciously fraught?? Speaking of fraught (in a somewhat different way), I also love beyond words that you had a Jesse & ELLISON post-BtR team-up. You walked just the right line between seriousness and near-farce - as much levity as could exist within those parameters, anyway - with Jesse and Ellison making their respective contributions toward an attempt at parenting Savannah. My favorite part might be the mini-section with Savannah's POV; it shows both how Jesse & Ellison's respective issues (oh boy) influence their respective approaches, and that they're maybe a little hapless in different areas but not about to give up. On the (albeit haphazard) parenting, on doing what they can to prevent Judgment Day, on any of it. I love how you riffed on the S1 finale John & Derek scene in the park, with Jesse thinking about Derek and how they've loved each other ("Do you think there's a future where we're not together?" "No.") as she watches young!Derek with young!Kyle in a public park. I love how you effectively re-riffed on that scene with Jesse after Judgment Day, now older and going by a different name, but again a resistance soldier, catching sight of a different Riley for the first time. I love how contemplative, almost sweet, these glimpses are. But you know that my very favorite part is Jesse/Lauren; I wasn't necessarily expecting Jesse to tell Lauren about Riley, but Lauren is sharp and she really does pick up on things, said or unsaid. I love the timey-wimeyness of Jesse & Lauren's relationship - that the Lauren who treats Derek and Jesse for the biological agent and thanks them for saving Sydney is also a Lauren who knows about the timey-wimeyness, and when she leaves and finishes her shift at last, is going to her Jesse and telling her about all of it, except for the parts that her Jesse already knows even better. And her Jesse being likewise so relieved that Sydney is alive and safe, among other things, and the actual HUG that she and Lauren and Sydney all share at the end! And Sydney! She's been through a harrowing experience, but she's exactly as resilient as I would've expected someone raised by Lauren and Jesse to be. I love stories with hugs, and I love that throughout the whole "[x] things" you managed to make what could have been really doom-full, shot through with hope instead, without a false note.
