be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (LotR: Galadriel: smile like sunshine)
So my family likes camping. No, really likes camping. It's always been our thing, and I love it when all of us are at a camping ground. But this time Esther's not coming (which means I'm missing the two days of the week that I actually have some interaction with her, since she's gone every week-day, all week-day, before I get up and not home till after I'm in bed), and Mary's gone, and Matt has his job, and we're going with some 4-H group that's going to drive me bonkers within the first hour. I'm pretty certain about this, especially considering that last time we went camping with this group, one of the mother's kept trying to throw her son at me. She did everything but say what a lovely couple we would make. She does this to every single girl. I'm dead serious, it's horrible.

Anyways, this is me, checking out until Monday and griping about it. Sorry.

Did I mention that last week it rained more or less non-stop for six straight days, and then continued raining on a frequent basis until just this Wednesday? YEAH. I love the rain, but at this point I just want some sunlight, which we are finally getting, thank heavens.

In other 'hey look, Betsy is griping!' news, SO MUCH SCHOOL. I really shouldn't have slacked on my online classes so much. *scowls*

[livejournal.com profile] marycontraire , do you think you could have the HP beta done by Monday? I'd like to post it when I get back - I've been talking about it for ages, it's time I delivered. If not, that's all right though. <333

Off to pack. At least I'll probably have time to get some writing and mapping and world-building done. Maybe I'll even get that first chapter of Happenstance done and finished editing. It is driving me up the wall. Since I am an awful person, I shall tease you with a little bit that I do like of it.

"So when did you grow up?" Sebastian says, taking her hand as they wait for the music to start. "Because I would swear just yesterday you were throwing mud at me."

"Probably when you weren't looking," Celia says politely.

"Sounds about right," Sebastian says, and then the music starts. He concentrates on his footing for a moment and then, pleased that it looks like he's not messing this dance up, turns his attention back to Celia. "Are you enjoying having Adam home?"

"Whenever I can get him to myself," Celia says with a smile, and he smiles back. "If your sister hasn't got him, then half the town does."

"Oh, he's a popular man," Sebastian says lightly, and spins her. She comes back into his arms with a laugh.

"It's been ages since we danced," she says with more of her old warmth. "You're never around at balls."

"Oh?" he says, and is about to reply when someone taps him on the shoulder. She curtsies, back to polite society woman, and he is forced to bow and move away graciously as Rafe Stanton cuts in.
