So, uh. I more or less abandoned LJ from last Friday to today (I checked my f-list every so often and left a few comments, but not nearly as many as I should have) because of three reasons.
a) almost all of Sunday I was cooking/eating a five-course Italian-themed meal with my sister Esther for the family (which has its precedents in our family - my sister Mary and I did a five-course French-themed meal once, and a few smaller meals).
b) massive meltdown this weekend, argh.
c) BATTLESTAR GALACTICA OMG. I watched ... way too much in much too little time. Season 1&2 Kara/Lee is my current happy place, honestly. With a little bit of Season 3&4 Kara/Lee, but then they are all screwed up in so many ways then (along with, well, EVERYONE ELSE. EVER.).
So, here's my reaction to the show, season-by-season. Um, spoilers-ahoy, of course. Rather short.
Season 1
Fantabulous. My favorite parts - the miniseries (Lee and Kara in the brig - 'somehow this seems familiar', well, almost everything), Act of Contrition & You Can't Go Home Again (Lee and Adama's despair at leaving her, Lee's face as he turns away when Starbuck's wireless cuts out, 'this thing is... acting weird,' 'it's flying with some serious attitude!', 'now your ass belongs to me', which for some reason is the funniest thing ever, 'wanna give me a bath' does this even need an explanation?), Colonial Day (Kara and Lee with hoses, which needs no explanation, and neither does Lee seeing Kara in a dress, hee!), and Kobol's Last Gleaming 1 (Lee and Kara being violent with each other and Lee's voice when he says 'just tell me why, Kara').
In short, wonderful, things are dark and angsty but there's still lightheartedness and people being happy, and Lee and Kara are adorably circling.
Season 2
Oh, Season 2. The Farm (Starbuck's past, oh, baby), Home 1 & 2 (Adama and Lee back together, Athena being fabulous, Lee kisses Kara and she needs to get her act together and realize he meant it!), Final Cut (everything! everything! especially Lee being like 'GTFO'), Flight of the Phoenix (the gun range! the blackbird flight! Athena being even more fabulous! they named the blackbird for Laura, awwww), the entire Pegasus arc was so well done (it's really really funny because I was actually watching the Pegasus arc on the computer while my family watched the taped Pegasus part 2 from BSG TOS). Um. Season 2? Good. Really good. Right up until GAIUS FRACKING BALTAR gets elected president, which, NO. NO. YOU IDIOTS. Gaeta! Stop being so honorable! (ummm...)
Season 3
reaction number one: WHERE IS MY KARA/LEE I WANT IT NOW NO WAY THEY MARRIED OTHER PEOPLE. reaction number two (upon watching Unfinished Business): SHIT. And then Kara dies and all hell breaks loose and Adama has lost his family he will not lose Lee too! And then, ow, Lee. Ow. That was... harsh. (Also, on note of minor characters, LSO Kelly omg. I mean, we haven't seen much of him but that's the Landing Signals Officer. He has cleared these pilots for lunch again and again and so many of them haven't come back and he can't do it anymore. Oh, baby.) KARA'S BACK, WHOA HI KARA.
Season 4
Annnd we are off to an incredibly painful start as Kara is like 'Don't lose me again Apollo!' and Apollo is like 'NO WAY IN HELL.' awwwww! but also oh my god my poor baby Lee. Then things take a distinct turn for the worse, there is the second Lee/Kara scene in the brig, even more fabulous than the first, and everything goes to hell in a handbasket and I kind of give up and curl into a tight ball of misery because, well, already feeling bad cannot handle this much horrendousness right now maybe later omg lee and kara noooooo. and then I go back and watch (relatively) happy Seasons 1&2. Kara and Lee with hoses! Yay!
so yeah. I'm back! I don't think I missed anything momentous?
