 man defaulting from a fanfiction challenge for the first time ever feels really weird. so sorry, yuletide! but i am just not cut out for fanfiction this year, which i should have realized earlier. i may browse through and see if i can write some treats, but i really just do not seem to have fanfiction mojo. it's a weird feeling!

i am so bad at regularly updating, and at checking my flist. it's hard to remember to keep up multiple platforms of contact with friends! twitter, plurk, email, dreamwidth, livejournal, aim - all sorts of places with friends i want to talk to. and there are only so many hours in a day!

perhaps i should set up a "if i'm not around dreamwidth i am in these places!" post so that it is always to reach me one way or another.

in assorted things!

+ new TARDIS interior nooo I'm sure the new one will be beautiful (Gallifreyan!) but I have so much fondness for the old one and its steampunk self and that old typewriter and the glass column I will miss it a great deal. 

+ I have been watching through Life with a friend, and it is a beautiful beautiful show, oh wow. I am loving it so much. Only three episodes to go what will I do when it's over? Weep, probably.

+ I have been watching Elementary too, with said friend, and it is doing fantastic. You guys should all be watching it I think, I am pretty sure the majority of people I know would really enjoy it a lot! The relationships are complicated and done really well and the acting is beautiful and it's a very very human Holmes who's been through a lot. BASICALLY I REALLY LOVE IT AND IF YOU WANT ME TO WORD VOMIT ON YOU I WILL.

+ Sometimes I feel sad I broke up with Supernatural but then I don't. Except it's a longer more complicated emotional moment than that. Oh shows and feelings about them.

I love Elementary too. I've been super tempted to write fic, but I haven't quite worked out WHAT yet.

Isn't it great? And yeah even if I had fanfic writing want to I'm not sure what there would be to write, the show is doing such a good job for me so far. Sherlock's face when Joan was reminding him that she wasn't going to stay forever :')

I know! I love the way that, like, he's NOT a total asshole but emotions are REALLY HARD FOR HIM.

YESSSS I was talking about it with a friend and we were saying that it really seems less like he doesn't understand emotions and more like he understands people and all that too well, so much that it's overwhelming. Which is a take on Sherlock that I really enjoy, because I've always really liked the idea of him having trouble with sensory overload (I love the moments they work with that in the Ritchie films). And then like he said, when you understand people that well most of the time, it's a lonely thing. BASICALLY I'M REALLY HAPPY with what they're choosing to do with his character!

I am not! I came back in late July after stopping over in Indonesia to visit a friend, I am going to college now but finished finals two days before Thanksgiving and so am now home for the winter break.

I am so glad you are watching Life! Isn't it FABulous? I rewatch it all the time and if I could bring back any show from the depths of beyond, it would have to be Life (or -- no, definitely Life. I think it was cancelled at the same time as two of my other favorite shows, though). Are you at all interested in a vid rec?

it is absolutely fabulous! I love Charlie and Dani and their partnership and the faces they both make around each other and Tidwell's basic decency which I wasn't expecting and the subtleties and the things they let you figure out for yourself and I'm so sad he sent Rachel away he's far too good at sending away the people and things that are good for him. She was so excellent!

Yes totally I would love a vid rec! If it has spoilers for the last three episodes I might have to wait to watch it but we're watching them like... today/tomorrow SO :D

The last episode is FABulous. (apparently that's the only way I can refer to this show, oh dear.) Charlie and Dani are the best, I love them. And Charlie's fruit thing. Damian Lewis's and Sarah Shahi's FACES.

Children's Work, which is...ugh, just so ridiculously perfect, it is one of the most perfect vids I have ever seen. It does have spoilers for the last three episodes, but once you have seen them, WATCH.

it is a completely accurate way to refer to this show. yessss the fruit thing and the nonsensical things he says and the moments Dani says things that sound like him and how he is always always in the light (my friend pointed this out and now I can't help but notice it all the time). and TED and everythiiiing it's just really fantastic.

I will totally keep it up for when we get to the last three. thank youuu!

Life was a pretty awesome show.

I am really enjoying Elementary! The cases are meh, but I am in love with these versions of Holmes and Watson. I love how the show is taking its time and doing slow reveals on them.

I am having so so much fun watching it oh man.

I'm not clever enough to get disappointed with cases heh but yessss these version of Holmes and Watson are really fascinating and I love the ways they work together really well but are still individuals who have a lot to learn about each other and his faaaace when she was reminding him that she wasn't staying forever. I'M REALLY ENJOYING IT. basically.
