writing is... interesting

So I'm happily considering the Imogene/Flavian storyarc and, y'know, whether or not it's actually a story arc and suddenly in walks this guy, probably about thirty, and informs me 'HELLO, YOU'RE GETTING IT ALL WRONG. IDIOT.'

Well then, if you think you can get it right-

I'm the one living it.

(This guy is very hostile, I note to myself.)

See, the Romans are about to pull out, so everything's not happy on the Wall, and also? The Picts and the Romans have been trading back and forth for the past hundred years or so, the Wall is barely guarded anymore because most of the legions have been pulled to the coast to guard against Saxon invasion. Flavian's men are some of the few left, and there's a reason almost everyone left on the Wall is an Old Magic creature. They don't want to leave here. So them and some of the very-Britain Legion-peoples (Eagles? Legionaires? I don't know he won't tell me!) are making plans to stay behind here in England when Rome pulls out and try to defend Britain from the Saxons.

... look, just who do you think you are? (much scowling on my part as I ask this)

My name is Keenan, or possibly Tiresius, or possibly even Flynn, and I have no conscience.

.... (long pause as I consider this) ... Look, I don't mean to be rude, but I'm a bit worried about your Moral Compass here.

Oh, if that's all, no need to worry, I'm a good guy. (dubious pause) Sort of mostly. (even longer pause as I continue to stare very dubiously.) Oh, fine, look, here's my reason.

And he explains, and I soften up, and then he even gives me a scene! Yay!

... okay, it's a depressing scene. BUT STILL. Progress is progress. And keep in mind I'm fairly certain Tiresius is only like... *counts on fingers* MAYBE SEVENTEEN when this takes place. And I think Celyn was his best friend. O.o

"He was a witch," Dougal began, sounding half annoyed, half worried.

"He was a boy!" Tiresius yelled, feeling fury engulf him, the fury he had held back and dammed as Celyn died in his arms. "He was a frightened boy who tried to make good come out of something he had been told could only be evil! He was brave and kind and none of you could ever think past your own stupid taboos and that he had magic. Magic he didn't ask for, magic he didn't want, magic he tried to use to help you, you sick bastards."

There was a soft gasp from the crowd as he flicked his hand and flames snaked out to enclose three men in a circle. Dougal. Aidan. Alberic. The men responsible for Celyn's death.

"I think you'll have plenty of time," Tiresius said softly, "to think on the fact that yesterday night you killed the only conscience I've had for years, and the only person I've cared about since I was seven."

OH MY WHAT.

I HAS NO WORDS FOR THIS. Seriously. *flails*

And I see the Merlin parallels there! BWAHA. *feels intelligent*

THIS IS SO EXCITING. I AM JEALOUS OF THE CHARACTER THAT WALKED INTO YOUR HEAD. HMPH.

(And I still need to work out details of my own plot bunny, but whatever. Multiple original fic plot bunnies are NOT good.)

They literally tortured Celyn (almost) to death, because on this side of the Wall it's considered the only way to go to heaven if you have magic and are a human. On the other side, it's really fine, and quite a few people have magic. Tiresius/Keenan/Flynn managed to rescue Celyn at some point, but Celyn asked him to kill him. So he did, because he knew that even with magic there was no way to fix the damage that had already been done.

Ooooh, but it's so much fun! It can be interesting in a not wonderfully good way, but it's still lots of fun to have various things going on! XD

I know, it is! I went to play tennis with my family, and I flailed in the car the whole way there. XD
