*epic facepalm*

So what, in the face of impending deadlines for [livejournal.com profile] remixredux09 and [livejournal.com profile] narniaexchange , does Betsy's brain do?

Why, of course! It gives her plot bunnies for Slayer!Susan, with Peter disapproving of her Watcher and her Watcher disapproving of Peter/Susan (also completely confused about why party-girl-boy-fiend-lipstick-and-high-heels-Susan already has some pretty freaking epic fighting skills) and Susan going 'FUCK THIS SHIT, I'M OUT OF HERE' an average of once a day to her Watcher.

Subtlety, Susan. You are doing it wrong.

*more facepalming*

I'll just... yeah... *shame*

FEEDING THE PLOT BUNNY DOES NOT HELP MY PREDICAMENT. *dies*

"Really," she says in disapproval, and looks over the selection of crossbows that are the only long range weapons he has. "Peter, do you know where-?" she says without turning around.

"Yeah," he says, and when she comes for practice the next day she's equipped with a longbow and a dozen arrows.

"Yes, well, the reason most Slayers see fit not to use those is because they take such a long time to master," he begins, taking off his glasses and polishing them.

The arrow hits the center of the target with a thud, and he puts them back on and peers at it.

"Ah," he says.

But of course! And then Peter insults the Watcher's swordsmanship skills.

This Watcher needs a name.

Something posh, perhaps.. *thinks*

Worthington? Or, what are the canon Watcher names, since they run in families?

Blair, Weatherby, Bryardale, Lassiter (hee!), Travers... those all have the right sound, I guess? Hmm.

They are very posh, but they're so prominent in canon...

THEN AGAIN. OMG HAHA. Wesley's ancestor trying to be Watcher to Susan. I LAUGH.

So something Wyndham-Price. *snickers*

Stanley. Or Gerald. Works for the period. *not* Percival.

He would have been born somewhere between 1910-1920, I guess? (A bit inexperienced for a Watcher, huh. Unless we go with making it Westley's grandfather's older brother, who could be born earlier?)

Anyways, Percival's not on the top (American, I couldn't find the English) list of names for the decade. Percy is though, which is odd.

Oooh, maybe Cecil? Poor guy, but still... XD

Couldn't he have been born earlier? Or...well, there's still a war going on, there has to be some reason he hasn't been conscripted, yes?

intelligence work, most likely. Bletchley?

And a watcher would normally be in his thirties/forties. :calculates: Okay, so if Wes's dad is around 60 in 2003, he'd have been born in the late thirties. His dad would've been born around 1910.

Not to mention that Susan is *old* for getting discovered as a slayer, but then they were probably going through them like water, it being wartime and vamps and demons going on the rise due to the disruption.

But on the bright side, she comes pre-trained! And with siblings! Who may not have Slayer-strength, but were trained to fight creatures that were sronger, faster, and bigger than they were. And with non-modern weapons, at that.

[livejournal.com profile] be_themoon has Susan at fifteen here.

I'm putting Susan at 15 because there's a gap in the Slayer timeline - no Slayer is mentioned (as far as I can find out) between 1943, when one died, and 1950, when another one was activated. So, mysterious seven-year-gap with perfect timing for Susan... it's irresistable! :P (Which means that this is also technically an LB AU, something it would seem I just cannot keep my grabby hands off of.)

Yup! That's my timing for Wesley's grandfather too. He'd be in his early thirties, with a ten-year-old kid.

Crack with research, guys. Research into a fictional show. I have sunk low.

Percival *really* isn't common in England outside of King Arthur. Percy is a name in its own right, as well as a surname - it's one of those boy's names like Lindsey or Leslie, ends in a 'y' sound.

Another thing I never knew.

I'm liking the sound of Percy or Cecil Wyndham-Pryce. Yes/no, peoples? Something else entirely?

Date: 2009-06-30 11:11 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] burntcopper.livejournal.com
The Wyndham-Pryces are canonically utter tossers. And higher up in the Watcher hierarchy. His granddad or great-uncle, maybe? His father never had a slayer.

(also : Blair is so not posh. Anyway, it's not so much posh as upper middle-class/low upper class. Went to Eton, but not necessarily stately home owning.)

XD I still can't really believe that I am doing this. Granddad would probably work, right? *considers timing* Wesley's dad is, what, 60 at least by 2008-ish? So, since it's around... 1943, he wouldn't be born yet, so it would have to be Westley's grandfather or great-uncle or some such more distant relation. Hm.

'I hate to break it to you, but there are things in this world more horrific than nazis and bombs.' :unveils piccy of vamps and demons:
'They're not attacking right now. have you tried talking to a trade representative?'
First fight - Susan doesn't go for the stake, she chops its head off, and without pausing, continues with the argument she was having with him.

hsst. Wesley. Westley is Princess Bride.

I cannot keep Westley and Wesley STRAIGHT. It's horrible. >.<

Susan is maddeningly polite, except when she's not. Peter, on the other hand.

And then there's Edmund, who starts showing up during the second week and hanging around quietly. He just doesn't say anything, though Peter convinces him to spar and that is a show. They've got skill not even his instructors had.

He can't help feeling a little envious.
