things I did today: have spent so far around 45 minutes working on names, types of animals, and rotation for Susan and Edmund's Guard so that I wouldn't make mistakes while writing the Narnia Exchange fic.

yes, my perfectionism is showing itself.

also, why is Twitter not working? how disappointing.

Edmund's Guard is primarily male (11 male, 5 female), Susan's Guard is primarily female (12 female, 4 male). the Night Guard is composed solely of male/female Guards, depending on the gender of the Royal (Susan's Night Guard is all female, Edmund's is all male). the idea is to make them as much at ease as possible. I even worked out a rotational schedule, and thought of all the amusing implications that happen when you have one male leopard and four females.

now I should try working on the actual fic, shouldn't I.

But details are awesome, though configuring your own Narnia can be hard (this is why I tend to write England!fic).

Hmm, just one question: what kind of Animals would be in the Pevensies' Guard? Personally, I'm rather partial to the idea of Edmund's being primarily Wolves, but yeah...

Some names and general ideas I'm taking from Bedlam's 'verse (with permission). As such, the Guard is Great Dogs and large Canidae.Susan's is predominantly leopards and jaguars, with a large portion of black. Also two tigers. Edmund's is more mixed - he has nine wolves, two foxes, one tiger, one cougar, and three cheetahs. Peter's is probably predominantly lions and tigers, possibly other Great Cats. Lucy's Guard probably tend to be small and sleek rather than big.

Uh. Personal thinking.

I can imagine Edmund's guard being diverse, probably good for internal diplomacy (something tells me they'd need it, Narnia being so diverse and all). And I love the idea of Lucy's guard being small, like her, so people end up underestimating them...

But, just one thing, Great Dogs? And Canidae are wolves&dogs, right?

It's a little bit internal diplomacy, a little bit Edmund is just the most diverse of the four. Lucy's Guard even has a few wildcats and ocelots, which are the smallest cats, but she's also got quite a few jaguars. They aren't the biggest of the small cats but they've got the strongest bite (we're talking turtle shell crushing bite here).

Great Cats! I meant Great Cats! agh. *facepalm* Canidae are wolves/foxes/coyotes/jackals. Only wolves and foxes are in the Guard, though - jackals and coyotes aren't well-trusted by most people.

OUCH. Turtlr shell crushing? That is scary. But, hey, it's like Lucy herself (especially during the earlier Golden Age): she's all cheerful looking and innocent but she can bite and it hurts.

Haha, okay, Great Cats. And yeah, I'd done some Canidae research for my failed NaNo last year but most of it had disappeared.
