casually writing some poetry again lately which is a nice feeling! i can't tell if i like it or don't, but i think i'm just going to keep writing and editing and editing some more and writing some more and see how it goes.

letter to a future symbol

my love, you are burning so bright.
do you think you could turn it down a notch?
some of us are trying to sleep.
yes, i know.
you have people to save.
perhaps you could consider saving me as well,
if it's not too much trouble.

my love, you are going to die so young.
you have taken to martyrdom like a torch to burning,
ready before it ever comes for you.
i fear i struggle more.
your hands should never still,
your eyes never dim.
a world that would allow it is unspeakably cruel.

my love, you will leave me so soon.
you are already half gone,
always have been.
you push towards something so much bigger than us,
a grander scheme of things.
but do not go.
i desire every star in the sky,
every moon you ever promised me.

my love, i am still here.
i am living in the only world we have.
i am living the only way i know how,
back to the wall and knuckles bloody.
stay with me.

my love, if you save the world
i will not consider it repayment for having lost you.
the balance will still be red.

my love, you are the only salvation i desire.
