Still sick - had to skip choir, which sucks. Not going to get to teach this week, which means no money ($15 from tutoring one day a week isn't much, but this is my whole income damnit). Missed math, will probably miss it again unless this gets better. Had to take two aspirin to feel halfway reasonable. The only good thing I can see coming out of this AT ALL is if I get to miss co-op school on Friday morning, but that means missing park too and I really could use NOT BEING SICK THAT LONG. *scowls*

In other, JUST AS ANNOYING NEWS, there was this awesome quote somewhere, I think by [livejournal.com profile] lassiterfics (I'm pretty sure actually about that), about how Peter and Arthur are so alike... it included something like 'The land and the king, holding a silent vigil for each other across time' and it was so frickin' gorgeous and perfect and I CANNOT FIND IT.

Also, my caps are out of control.

As a method of consolation, I wrote happy Narnia fluff earlier (already posted, 'When All The Leaves Are Gold'). Also read lots of G. K. Chesterton, especially this gem, called The Towers of Time. My favorite part has to be this stanza...

(There is never a crack in the ivory tower
Or a hinge to groan in the house of gold
Or a leaf of the rose in the wind to wither
And she grows young as the world grows old.
A Woman clothed with the sun returning
to clothe the sun when the sun is cold.)

I would just like to say - eeeeeeeeeeee. 'And she grows young as the world grows old./A woman clothed with the sun returning/to clothe the sun when the sun is cold.' I'm not even sure why this is so awesome, BUT IT IS.

ETA: WHAT? PAPA WAS SUPPOSED TO PICK UP 'SALT: A HISTORY' FROM THE LIBRARY. HE DID NOT. ARGHHHH.

Apparently he wasn't aware I had a book waiting for me, so he didn't ask for it when he went. DANGIT.

Hmm...let's try this.

(Her world was in ruins and she was on top of it. Everything crumbled and burned, and if she looked hard enough, she could still see the shriveling body of her sister, right in the back of her mind. It was gross and perverted and wrong, but Jadis relished it. From the dying she felt the power.

Then, without warning, the strange children showed up. They were different. They didn't fit into her burning. They should be gone, and she had made to eliminate them, but before she could, she's somewhere else.

That world was even stranger, but she was determined to conquer it as well. Let that world burn too, with her on top once again. She would show them their queen.

Then they are in this land. This land that the golden cat sang into life. He sings and Jadis wants nothing more than to ride that song, but destroy it. Twist it into her own song of red burning.

But she cannot. The cat is strong.

He holds her back, the mighty Jadis, with a tree. With a simple tree. But the tree grows old, and she begins planting little seeds of her own, feeding the weakminded rulers' love for pleasure. She make sure that they speak of her with a mix of reverence and terror, as it should be.

Then, when the moment is right, she will fly in screaming their deaths and their burning. She will turn over the whole land and freeze it to her will. They will rely on her for warmth, because all their lands will be ice.

And she will finally be queen.)

Meh, that turned out odd.

SALT. YES. I was reading An Abundance of Katherines today, and in a footnote, the main character mused about THE IMPORTANCE OF SALT IN HISTORY. BWAHAHA.

O.o She's SCARY. *shivers* That's really good, and creepy, and AWESOME.

Especially the part where she is now the only burning thing (and she likes it that way). SOCOOL.

Bwahahahha, thank you! I kind of scared myself writing it too (like I said I would).

That was total afterthought. I'd originally wanted it to end with her being defeated and being like, "WTF?!" but, yeah.

Hahahha, I AM MUCHO GLAD THAT YOU LIKED IT. :D
