Tell me about: anti-twilight, nanowrimo, edmund pevensie, parodies, avatar, the silmarillion, sarah dessen, and colin morgan.
Anti-Twilight
The book itself is one I'd only read as a guilty pleasure, but that's not what I'm against it. I'd be perfectly fine with people reading it and liking it if it weren't for some of the more rabid fans, who insist 'it's the best book ever!' and 'Stephenie Meyer is a genius!' and then say that it is also one of the only books they've ever read. And then mob the poor actors. So if you're a sane fan who's not going to try and say I'm an idiot for not liking it, I'm perfectly fine with you. So I guess I'm not so much Anti-Twilight as Anti-Rabid-Fans-Who-Think-I'm-Stupid? :P
NaNoWriMo
NaNoWriMo is mostly what kept me writing two years ago when I was in a major muse slump. The forums are fun to trawl around on, the people are nice, and the deadline and having other people knowing that I'm writing and what my goal is is what I've always needed to actually work on something long enough. I like to think I've gotten a bit more of a strong will now and can complete a story with NaNo, but it's still something that I love doing, even if what I come up with is a messy, flawed draft that needs a lot of help. It makes me happy.
Edmund Pevensie
As most people on my f-list know, Edmund is probably my favorite of the Pevensies (Susan and Peter are both very much adored too, but I really love Edmund). ESPECIALLY movie!Edmund. Skandar Keynes is an excellent actor, and Edmund in the movies is very much how I think of him - witty and smart and the quiet pillar and also the spymaster. Come on, he totally is! He's in charge of all the spies. And he writes rambling letters and is always trying to overwork himself and is absolutely awesome. Did I mention he's awesome and that I adore him? ... yeah. XD (I feel that I should admit here that I like the movies more than I like the books. This is a rare occurrence for me, okay? I almost always like the books better than the movies.)
Parodies
I like snark. This is, possibly, a fatal failing of mine. I like sarcasm and parodies and snark a lot, and I have a weakness for snarky characters (... this may be why I adore Toph and Katara and Edmund). Heck, I read parodies of books and movies that I LOVE. So long as they aren't condescending or just making fun to be mean, I enjoy them like I enjoyed the books. Snark is my weak point.
Avatar
Best. Kid's show. Ever. Seriously. It's serious, it's goofy, it's snarky, it's funny, it's adorable, it's unpredictable. I really enjoy the characters and the plot and everything this show has to offer. Also, KYOSHI. LOOK AT THE ICON, GUYS. THAT WOMAN IS WICKED AWESOME. She's my favorite in the whole show, and she only comes in ... three times? Errr... yeah. I mean, I love the main characters, and I like the pairings, I just find myself oddly fascinated with Kyoshi. She's pretty darn cool, that's what. Also, I love the last Airbender Avatar too (Yangchen). She's pretty and awesome, and I loved her one scene. <3 Basically, I adore this show.
The Silmarillion
J. R. R. TOLKIEN IS THE MAN, GUYS. This right here? This is fantasy world-building at its best. I honestly don't know how he did it. I love this book so so much, and not just for the world-building. I love his characters too, as tragic as they are. Possibly my favorite person in it is Feanor's wife, and then this one human lady, I think her name was Haleth? Anyways, after her father and brother, the chief and his heir, were killed in battle, she led her people through some pretty dangerous areas into a safe place and then ruled them for quite a while. She was pretty awesome. ALSO ALSO. That one guy. Um... he rescued his best friend, who had been chained to the mountain by his hand? YEAH, HIM. So yeah, I love this book. And the people in it. Even if I can't remember their names. :P
Sarah Dessen
Possibly the only chick-lit author I read with any sort of regularity. I love love LOVE her book 'The Truth About Forever' and 'Keeping the Moon' and 'Lock and Key' were both good reads, as well as a few of her other books. Basically, I don't read chick-lit. It's not my thing. I like old-fashioned romance, which is why I adore Jane Austen so much, but the only romance writers I ever read are Sarah Dessen and Jane Austen. Pretty much ever. It's just generally not my thing, which is what makes those two such stand-outs on my list of authors I read.
Colin Morgan
He's awesome. No, really. No, really. Also cute, adorable, and a geek with an Irish accent. Look, I have a weakness for accents in a guy, 'k? Also, he's in Merlin, which is currently my favorite TV show. Pretty much ever (and this is beating out stuff like Supernatural and Avatar, both of which I really really love). And he plays MERLIN. And is really freaking good at it! So yeah. I like Bradley James better I think, but Colin Morgan is pretty much awesome. REALLY REALLY AWESOME. And no, I still don't write RPF. *eyes*

Date: 2009-04-28 02:30 am (UTC)Well, while I think, I'm commenting for the second meme. :)
Hmm, I have so many tests this week, that it probably isn't smart for me to do this, but oh, I want to. So badly.
I request...Peter and Edmund, with some snark and general awesomeness?
I was going to do Ced & Seb, but I decided to go for the original awesome brothers :)no subject
