Yesterday night, I watched Masterpiece Mystery's 'Miss Marple: Murder is Easy' (which you can watch online here) with my mom. They've been doing a run of Agathie Christie pieces - there were some Poirot ones, then four Marple ones are due (this is the second). The first one was A Pocketful of Rye last week, which had Matthew McFaddyen in it, who did not look at all like himself as Darcy most of the film and thereby drove me crazy because 'THAT IS MCFADDYEN'S VOICE, OKAY? I KNOW IT. Part of the reason he was so great as Darcy was because he had that deep voice! I have watched P&P like, twenty times. IT IS HIM. I AM SURE OF IT.' Eventually I checked on IMDB and haha! I was right!
This week's Marple piece had two Doctor Who alumna - Midshipman Alonzo from 'Voyage of the Damned' played the Constable, who was adorable out of his depth only wait a minute, that's some clever questioning, kid. Ooooh. Nice one. Not quite so out of your depth after all, are you? And then Ursula from 'Love and Monsters,' who has such a distinctive voice that I recognized it despite having watched only the very last bit of her episode, played Honoria Waynflete, one of the most interesting characters in the thing.
Anyways. I would recommend them - you can watch them online at the places I linked to, and they're some nice, well-done pieces, though they do have a tendency to show the murders and bodies a bit close-up. Like I'm watching for the murders! I'm watching for the cleverness.
