Ack ack ack is right. My fam is far enough inland (I think - am a tad extra worried for the brother who lives on the beach) and far enough north that I think they'll be fine, but ACK. Horrible horrible, and so soon after Chile's last huge earthquake, and such a large widespread repercussion. Praying for your sister and her fiance and anyone else who needs extra protection right now. EEEEK. *hug*

oh PHEW. I'm glad to hear that. Oh, no, my family is in CA, which probably won't have any actual trouble with it, but my brother lives basically right on the beach so I tend to worry when anything is stirring up in the Pacific.
