 I cannot even begin to say how sick I am of cleaning up everybody else's messes in my house.

In other news, starting the long (and already slightly tedious) search for Colleges. That I am more excited for this than anything that has happened this week (which has included two people coming home from long trips, Esther spending the day home from work, icecream, and park day, among other things) says nothing good for the stress freaking me out here.

... *twitches* Someone remind me that Katherine is 15 and hormonal and it is not her fault she's being horrible. (Except for how it kind of is.) *clings to tiny corner of fandom*

Katherine is 15 and hormonal! It is the older sibling's cross to bear. My brother is 14 and hormonal and just bugged me on facebook for like half an hour about how I need to get in the kitchen and make him a sandwich. I know we're told that they eventually age, but in the meantime, we must try not to actually murder them, and that is very hard.

I find the idea that I was this bratty at that age kind of horrifying. *shudders* Yeah, she's spent the past semester not cleaning, making messes everywhere, and then either accusing me of making them and/or saying "Well you're not perfect! You don't always come to dinner on time!"

It is very hard. I will soldier on! (OMG COLLEGE.)

I've only just started looking, so I've barely got the beginnings of a list. I do know the vague basics of what I'm looking for (smaller, preferably private and not religiously affiliated, offering double majors and a bachelor's in Social Work), and collegeboard.com's search option is helping me a lot in finding my options (currently around 400 of them).

Also I want Ultimate Frisbee clubs. As sad as it is, that would totally sway me over to a college. :P

I was going to tempt you by pointing out that Tulane offers a bachelor's in social work, but apparently we only offer a master's. (Although we probably have the best volunteer opportunities of any school in the country -- twenty hours are required between freshman/sophomore, and another twenty during junior/senior.) Oh -- we do have something similar in the school of liberal arts, social policy and practice.

And we have an ultimate frisbee club. /pimp

heeee! yeah, I actually already looked at Tulane because they've been really active in emailing/mailing me and from everything you've said about it it does sound like a really good college. If I end up getting a master's in Social Work, it's totally on my list. :P

Oh, that's just not playing fair! Hanging out with you in New Orleans would be ridiculously fun. *sigh* Oh, Tulane, if only I could convince my mom you were a reasonable option to come visit.

Of course, if you visit Tulane, you will never ever want to go anywhere else. (Tulane was my last choice school -- it was actually my safety school, because I applied really early since the application was free and really easy compared to most of the other ones, and I got a pretty good chunk of financial aid from them. But I visited, and fell in love with it, and then there was the time I locked myself in the bathroom crying because I didn't want to go to Wellesley, I wanted to go to Tulane! ...sadly that's a true story. Let us use it as an example of why it is good to visit schools, although I know (oh, but I know) how hard it can be to do so, because of distance and financial concerns.) You could always try floating New Orleans as a vacation destination, rather than merely, "I want to go and check out this school and nothing else?" We do have one hell of a lot of stuff to do in this city. (And despite stupid media hype and cliches, the majority of it is family-friendly, even Mardi Gras. *scowls*) We're also (literally) right next door to Loyola University of New Orleans (which, yeah, is a Jesuit school), if you could try the idea of checking out two universities at once.

Except yeah, it probably kind of is. My sympathies - little siblings can be *really* horrid at times.

But college search! That was a fun time - the College Board search machine is such a help, though I think I wasted more time putting in random and unnecessary requirements than I spent seriously searching. What are you thinking?

It IS useful, omg. I'm being pretty strict - I've only input things that I'm definitely requiring and I've only put in the major that I'm most interested in, and then looking at others as I check out the various colleges. I had 397 colleges, but I just gave in and went "oh, whatever, I'm cutting out pretty much any colleges that don't have Frisbee anyways" and made having Ultimate Frisbee a requirement, so it's down to 106 now.

Frisbee! Love it! We totally have an Ultimate Frisbee club here, and actually a lot of it outside of the school too - one of my brother's apartment-mates is going to Austria or something this summer for the world championships of ultimate frisbee. That is a fabulous requirement to have.
