things I want: lots more indulgent world-building fic about a world WITHOUT STARS. I did a bit here, but I think there should be more! and so does Lass! WRITE IT PEOPLE. (also needing writing? the adventures of Rory as he stayed out of trouble (badly) for 2000 years!)
you know, the more things I hear about SPN S6, the more I get excited for it! it's sounding kind of epic.
poetry is EPIC, guys! especially when you're relating it to fandom, which means that
gid_hanasheh and
motherlessguns are awesome and that everyone should watch them.
man, SPN is addictive, isn't it? and it spreads like wildfire! let's see. I got Lass hooked, Lass got Z and Wyrm into it (and I think others I don't know), Larm and I got Meto and Irish and Kate into it, and now I'm sort of worried for ALL OF YOU GUYS' SANITY. SPN will steal it! and rip your heart out! oh wait, you know that now.
I want to watch Happy Town, because it's crazy and fun, but at the same time - it creeped me out SO badly, and that was just the first episode. I think I have to be very careful about how I'm doing emotionally before I finish watching it.
I did, however, watch the SyFy Alice, which has been on my list for a long time, and Alice/Hatter is adorable, y'all. Also everyone kicks ass! I always enjoy that.
I get to plan hopeful college-visiting! YAY.

Date: 2010-06-29 07:24 pm (UTC)I also am excited about S6 homg. I kinda don't want to think about it too much because that is bound to lead to frustrated expectations but STILL. mostly I want more sam and dean <333 how do you feel about that anime series japan is making??

Date: 2010-06-29 09:02 pm (UTC)I am just like this! :DDDDD I don't know if you've seen spoilers? but there are some really awesome ones that are making me go "WHOA WHAT?" Whatever story they're telling, it's going to be interesting, I think! also there will be footage from Season 6 at Comic Con! WOO. the anime series definitely sounds interesting! I'm reserving judgement on it until I know whether it'll be easy to find English subtitled versions. I hope so! plus, the idea of them doing an anime that might get as far as the apocalypse and get to show us it in FULL would be awesome. OH BUDGETS.

Date: 2010-06-30 11:59 pm (UTC)Boys watching SPN: I am not sure if it should seem weird! It should be normal! But fandom is full of girls! But we already knew that! WEIRD.
I TOO LOVE THAT METAPHOR OF HERS. It is so true, um like uncannily so. Erotically codependent family bonds are my drug; I am addicted; they have me wandering around with a buzz a lot. XD
I have seen spoilers! I'm all over
I would love to see the anime series do angels. I am quite excited about the monsters already. I would LOOOVE to see them do a Cas-gets-Dean-out-of-hell scene, homfg. The apocalypse would be epicccc. And and and, the producer and the writers, there are interviews translated on ontd_spnparty and they all sound really like big fans! :D yay! so I guess I am excited, except for the part where anime dialogue delivery, style, sense of humor - there's an different flavor, a different rhythm, to eastern stuff - might be different, and it could go either way for me. I love SPN the way it is. I hope it doesn't change *too* much.

THANKS FOR THE LINK :DDD
(if you ever want to watch a vid about unquestionably erotic codependent family bonds (like, the last half has NSFW outside-source footage spliced in, and considering it's incest it's probably NSFL), you should watch

Date: 2010-07-03 11:04 pm (UTC)it has some really good shots too of Sam and Dean giving each other PIERCING STARES. they always take my breath away and I doubt they compare to anything else on tv.

Date: 2010-07-03 08:04 pm (UTC)OH SHOW.
it is crazy! their grandfather? WHAAAAT is going on? and yeah, I watch spnparty mostly for the spoilers, though all in all they're a pretty fun community - funnily enough, I've gotten more involved there than in any other big comm. but yeah, I dunno, I think I've never really harbored any ideas of SPN being a REALLY serious show, so I'll probably be good with whatever they come up, so long as Sam and Dean are amazing and Castiel swooshes around being bad-ass at least half the episodes. You know! I can't remember if we've gotten confirmation on Crowley returning or not - I think we have? I really really hope so. (I really want Jake Abel to come back. FAMILY.)
OMG OMG the angeeels that would be SO EXCITING. omg, Z, they could do the raising-from-perdition! OOOH. this is EXCITING. they do sound like such big fans! I probably won't do regular watching of it, but I'll definitely see it at some point.

That comm brings me so much joy. I do nothing but lurk pretty much, I think I've dropped like three comments, but I collect gifs and macros like no other.
I am torn between being very serious about this show (because it does serious things to my heart) and watching it lightly (because it has shown that it loves doing cracky crazy things).
I think we have had confirmation of Crowley - I've seen some speculating on whether he'll be the next season's big bad. We'll see I guess! I TOO WANT JAKE ABEL BACK. Adam had attitude and his own agenda, and I respected that more than I respected dickhead angels :))
I will definitely catch it, at some point, somehow - though I don't necessarily plan on following. anyway, it's gonna be a while between when it's made and put out, and between it coming out and someone subbing it in English and uploading that to the nets.

wheee .gifs and macros! I collect them too, it is SO MUCH FUN.
exactly - it walks a fine line, and it's hard to copy that in fannish interaction. OH SHOW. I loved Adam! he was great. :)
yeah, it will be, won't it? D:

Date: 2010-07-05 08:38 pm (UTC)YEAH RECURRING actually recurring for Crowley too! it's word of Show that he's coming back for a lot.
I want to post some of my favorites sometime. I <3 the pics of jared and misha goofing off together. it is sort of like my love for sassy, the silliest ship ever XD

Date: 2010-06-29 07:37 pm (UTC)I can totally see Roranicus being held up as the ultimate symbol of faith too, similar to how Penelope is. Humanities scholars go wild over the story, I bet. I bet there are theses comparing and contrasting Roranicus to Penelope. There are also of course conspiracy theories that cults the world over have made up about the Pandorica! Jacob Glaser is the only one who knows the truth ("Inside it there's a woman from the future who will be instrumental in saving the universe!") but no one ever listens to him when pyramids aren't involved.
Like Z above, SPN has become my most social fandom, what with meeting fans IRL. I also got my best friend into it and now the two of us are OBSESSED and she is Dean on my phone, I am Sam on hers. STOP LAUGHING. We constantly find ways to turn the conversation back to SPN. Obsession, like misery, loves company. I too would worry about my sanity, if I KNEW WHERE IT WAS. HAVE YOU SEEN IT? SHOULD I MAKE ADS ON THE SIDES OF MILK CARTONS??
Happy Town is pretty creepy, this is true. New episode tonight though! I am wildly excited. I started watching Syfy Alice some time ago but never finished... but I may soon, since it's getting such ringing endorsements from people.
OMG GOOD LUCK WITH COLLEGE VISITS

"Why else would one man guard it for two thousand years?" Jacob says, but no one wants to admit that this makes total sense.
this one time, another cult devoted to the Pandorica stole it. Rory knew better than to try to take the entire group at once, but he spent a week following them, and another three days ambushing them all one by one, until it was down to only three completely paranoid and terrified members remaining, and then after beating them he sat down next to the Pandorica. "I think I should feel tired," he tells Amy. "It's been a while since I slept. A few hundred years? The calendars are sort of weird." He cleans his sword and then rests his head against the Pandorica. "I hope you're okay," he says quietly, and then sighs and gets up. One of his joints creaks - he needs to find some oil. And a rope. Maybe he should hide her in a cave this time - but that's not really safe. Publicity remains the safest option for the moment.
THERE ARE TOTALLY THESES. Rory does a stint at Oxford one time, when the Pandorica is being kept there. at first, he's a little bit appalled at finding himself in textbooks, but then he goes ahead and writes a theses hypothesizing that the Lone Centurion is a construct, something created by people's minds and expectations and random coincidences. It goes over surprisingly well for something that's patently false. He finds it inordinately amusing, and writes a letter to Amy about it, which he stuffs under some floorboards.
He's left hundreds of these letters scattered throughout time. Nobody can read them - in this world without stars, German is much different than the German he learned as a child. They can tell the languages are related, but the letters themselves have become something of a phenomenon. If I have to write another thesis someday, I can write it on my letters, he muses. He's looking forward to it.
it is weird how social SPN is, and how quickly it spreads! but also AWESOME. I'm not laughing! I love how SPN can really bring people together. OH SPN, the crazy and wonder of you! oh dear. perhaps you should start with posters on lightpoles? LOST: ONE SANITY. RETURN TO LASS. DO NOT PET, IT BITES.
ooh, new episode! hm. I wonder if they'll get to wrap up the plot at least a little bit? I hope so! it would be awful if they didn't, I'd die of speculation. and Alice is quite fun! too short, that's the only problem. I would love the continuing adventures of Hatter and Alice, as they go mirroring around.
COLLEGEEEEE. POETRYYYYY. WHEEEEE!

Date: 2010-07-07 07:00 am (UTC)omg Roryyyyyyyy, so loyal and so finding himself in textbooks! And writing theses on himself for funsies! AND WRITING LETTERS TO AMY STUFFED UNDER FLOORBOARDS OMG. I love this idea that the languages are different, which makes all sorts of sense considering how the lack of stars would have made for different migration patterns.
RETURN TO LASS. DO NOT PET, IT BITES.
LOL I WASN'T USING IT ANYWAY I GUESS. oh SPN, colonizer of brains.

Date: 2010-06-29 09:34 pm (UTC)Amelia grows up with the story of the 2000-year Knight, who is also called the Watcher, and sometimes, in a way that reminds her of a dream of a dream that has never existed but in her mind, he is called the Box Man. Amelia Pond likes boxes, but she doesn't use them to hide in for television or as forts. She paints them blue and takes them outside and uses them to search the sky for stars.

Date: 2010-07-01 03:45 pm (UTC)you totally do need to get into SPN! take your time, though. once you're in, there IS NO COMING OUT.
okay! so, the basic divisions of Doctor Who are old!Who and nu!Who. Old Who is anything that aired from it's first airing - 1963 - until 1989, when it was canceled for the first time. (There's a short gap in there when it went on hiatus.) There's also a movie that's sort of iffy on how canonical it really is. Old Who is full of craziness, missing serials, and a really odd version of episodes/serials. I've watched very little of it, and it's not necessary to know it before you watch nu!Who.
nu!Who started in 2005, featuring Doctors Nine, Ten, and now Eleven. It called it's first season Series 1, though it could also be considered Season 27, since it's canonically the same show as the old one (which ran for 26 seasons). It was under Russell T. Davis for four series (series four including five specials that ran instead of a regular season through 2009). Stephen Moffat took over for Series 5, which he then said was Series 1 or Season 31. But everything official is still calling it Series 5, so. yeah.
TVTropes has a pretty fantastic primer for the show here, plus an episode recap page. I'm a big fan of Series 1 and 5, myself. They're both totally worth watching, while the three inbetween are pretty good but not the best.
IN SHORT, you should totally watch it! I love Doctor Who - it's all SHINY and SPARKLY and Series 5 was possibly the best season of television I've watched. Quite seriously.

Date: 2010-07-01 08:13 pm (UTC)apparently SPN is ridiculously social! and lots of people watch it, some of them people I would never in a HUNDRED years would have dreamed watch SPN. which is kind of awesome for it! and fun for it's fans, too. :D
