things I want: lots more indulgent world-building fic about a world WITHOUT STARS. I did a bit here, but I think there should be more! and so does Lass! WRITE IT PEOPLE. (also needing writing? the adventures of Rory as he stayed out of trouble (badly) for 2000 years!)
you know, the more things I hear about SPN S6, the more I get excited for it! it's sounding kind of epic.
poetry is EPIC, guys! especially when you're relating it to fandom, which means that
gid_hanasheh and
motherlessguns are awesome and that everyone should watch them.
man, SPN is addictive, isn't it? and it spreads like wildfire! let's see. I got Lass hooked, Lass got Z and Wyrm into it (and I think others I don't know), Larm and I got Meto and Irish and Kate into it, and now I'm sort of worried for ALL OF YOU GUYS' SANITY. SPN will steal it! and rip your heart out! oh wait, you know that now.
I want to watch Happy Town, because it's crazy and fun, but at the same time - it creeped me out SO badly, and that was just the first episode. I think I have to be very careful about how I'm doing emotionally before I finish watching it.
I did, however, watch the SyFy Alice, which has been on my list for a long time, and Alice/Hatter is adorable, y'all. Also everyone kicks ass! I always enjoy that.
I get to plan hopeful college-visiting! YAY.

Date: 2010-07-01 03:45 pm (UTC)you totally do need to get into SPN! take your time, though. once you're in, there IS NO COMING OUT.
okay! so, the basic divisions of Doctor Who are old!Who and nu!Who. Old Who is anything that aired from it's first airing - 1963 - until 1989, when it was canceled for the first time. (There's a short gap in there when it went on hiatus.) There's also a movie that's sort of iffy on how canonical it really is. Old Who is full of craziness, missing serials, and a really odd version of episodes/serials. I've watched very little of it, and it's not necessary to know it before you watch nu!Who.
nu!Who started in 2005, featuring Doctors Nine, Ten, and now Eleven. It called it's first season Series 1, though it could also be considered Season 27, since it's canonically the same show as the old one (which ran for 26 seasons). It was under Russell T. Davis for four series (series four including five specials that ran instead of a regular season through 2009). Stephen Moffat took over for Series 5, which he then said was Series 1 or Season 31. But everything official is still calling it Series 5, so. yeah.
TVTropes has a pretty fantastic primer for the show here, plus an episode recap page. I'm a big fan of Series 1 and 5, myself. They're both totally worth watching, while the three inbetween are pretty good but not the best.
IN SHORT, you should totally watch it! I love Doctor Who - it's all SHINY and SPARKLY and Series 5 was possibly the best season of television I've watched. Quite seriously.
