oh, internets, I am tired and weary, for I have spent over a week worrying about whether my dad will freak out today or not, and being in charge of the house, and trying to make Kat and Sam do what they are supposed to do, but they will never listen. And today was not really that good, because there were People and my dad dragged us to his church at the last minute, and though I wore heels (in point of fact, my most fabulous purple shiny heels) to intimidate People, the music still shook my bones. And Papa was very irritable, and my sister got married yesterday in New Zealand and she was beautiful and I love her and I am very, very tired. Also there were People.

religion wearies me right now, especially after I was accidentally linked to the Narnia forums on ff.net. Internets, I was horrified. Together with Unsavory Business in the newspapers, my faith in humanity has been dealt a serious blow, though Doctor Who yesterday did much to help restore it. <333 ("There is an escaped fish in the area." also, "Gotcha.")

have poetry! it makes me happy.

Hey! I'm hoping to finish the Edmund meets Ianto (in a park, not a bar. the bar comes into it later. a lot.) thing for the 'a ficathon walks into a bar' challenge today or tomorrow, and will need a beta for it, because I'm pretty sure half of this is being written in a state of mind most commonly known as 'kinda cracked out.'

Fic is verging on 2K, not done, and contains so far: time loops, parks, beer, minotaurs, unknown languages, crack, conversational jabs, snark, and flirting. It'll probably contain by the end: Edmund punching Jack, goring by minotaurs, resets, shared angst, ridiculous pranks, absolutely no explanation of what Edmund's doing in Cardiff, and solving the problem. Somehow.

Timewise, this is set shortly post Cyberwoman for Torchwood and after The Silver Chair but other than that unknown for Narnia.

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Narnia: Edmund: non semper aestas)
OMG AWESOME.

a ficathon walks into a bar!

(it's just 500 words! I totally have time! it's not like it's going to make me want to write all sorts of crossovers with Edmund. uh. CRAP.)
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Feminist: Text: emphasizing ur wimminz)
+ Today I had Christmas! my sister is leaving tomorrow and won't be back again for a long time, so we figured we would have Christmas this Sunday, complete with the traditional breakfast (Christmas Morning Coffee Cake, bacon, eggs, oranges/orange juice) and a tree and everything, which turned out really nice. :) We didn't do a lot of presents, but the ones we did were really good - a sweater, a lap stand for the laptop, a water bottle, and my sister got matching rings for all four of us girls. And then later at my grandmother's I got cash and a really nice necklace, and when we stopped by Whole Foods Market on the way home I got myself two boxes of tea, both green. I'm drinking one of them right now, it's quite nice. So yay!

+ School's wrapped up, except for my final in A. P. Gov., which is nice. School doesn't start again for me until January 20th, though I do have to get my books before that.

+ I'm working on the [livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang and have quibbles about a few things. I want all of the Pevensies there, and I'm specifically going to be pretty vague about how they got there. And I really want to have Sam and Dean and Castiel, but part of me wants to use this as a midway point for the Dean and Cas we see in 'The End', because it would fit pretty well as a 'break them more!' thing. BUT. I really want Sam in on it. So maybe I'll hint that this happened in the alternate-timeline-that-Zachariah-created too? AGH. I don't know. (Pairings showing up so far in my vague outline. Sam/Lucy/Edmund, Dean/Castiel, Peter/Susan, past!Susan/Dean.)

+ just something I wanted to mention - one of my friends who has watched the old Trek series/movies recently watched XI and was like 'I loved it all except for Uhura - she wasn't RIGHT. she was too sharp!' and I just sat there and went 'wut?' she also objected to the Spock/Uhura relationship because it wasn't in the actual series. which. I dunno, it was just frustrating to me, because everyone (in RL that I've talked to) seems to be bringing Uhura down when she was ridiculously awesome and so on top of things. I loved her! why can't everyone else? :(

+ I've still been neglecting my f-list, which is sad. I'm going to get back on top of things this week, though. I have been reading everything on my f-list, just been really distracted and busy, even after NaNo ended (portfolio! tests! omg for a second there I panicked and was like 'I HAVEN'T TAKEN MY MATH FINAL' but no. no, that was last Thursday. whew!). this week is purely for relaxing and hanging out online with y'all and writing. it will be fabulous!

+ it is rec time! divided up!

one show, two vids, three fics, lots of poetry. )
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Narnia: Edmund: non semper aestas)
(so, I think I'm mostly back! Finals next week, some A.P. Gov left, nothing in Latin but my final exam, and I'm done! OMG YAY.)

okay, so. remember the three-sentence ficathon that everyone at your f-list has probably been talking about. yeah.

this is a story in which [livejournal.com profile] grim_lupine and I make our best efforts to expose the entire fiction world of characters to Edmund Pevensie, because everyone should Edmund. ("NEEDS MORE EDMUND." "What does?" "EVERYONE.")

a fabulous saga )

Other things I've written this ficathon.

:DDD this is fuuuun! )
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (BSG: Starbuck: nothing but the rain)
+ Lass wrote more Narnia Durkheim fic, which is naturally awesome. Forms & Foundations. Susan & Edmund. This world tells her, You are Susan Pevensie, a whole equal to the sum of her parts, and she wonders what that entails.

+ Florida got a cold snap in the past few days and my hands are freezing. off. I'm not even really kidding about this - I have poor circulation in my hands and feet, and I pretty much always have cold hands, but in the cold weather they just don't warm up. at all. it makes typing a little annoying.

+ my little procrastination habit? really bad this past week. feels like I'm physically incapable of doing school unless there is a tangible deadline, and even then it's close. I finished my 1.5K essay due tonight about half an hour before it was due. makes me feel stupid. I've got to stop that.

+ things are like... shifting? I dunno. I mean, I took the PSAT, which is suddenly feeling like a tangible piece of my possible history and every time I think about it I start worrying about the questions and if I did well enough, because my mom wants me to get the Merit Scholarship. and I mean, fuck, you have to be really really smart to do that and I just don't know if I'm that good. I could be, I think. I should be. but I've been distracted and unable to concentrate and just, fuck, you guys. if I want to go to a good college without pulling a couple hundred scholarship strings, I need that Merit Scholarship. I need the prestige that comes with it so that the colleges want me. agh. I don't want to be stressed by this but inexplicably, I am. I have a year and a half before I graduate highschool! I'm planning on taking a gap year, maybe two! I should not be worrying about this shit yet. *deep breaths*

+ on a much more cheerful note, MUSIC. "The Captain and the Hourglass" by Laura Marling. It's kind of melancholy, kind of hopeful, and I love it a lot because of these two lines - "He’s done with all this bullshit, he’s going back to war, / If Heaven is as Heaven does then this is Hell for sure." Also, because Kathy recommended it to me and now I can't stop listening, "Citadel" by Anna Nalick. And naturally, my very own theme song for cloudy days, "Defying Gravity" from Wicked. Complete with kickass Firefly vid, of course. Also a lot of Vienna Teng, because she has a gorgeous voice.

+ now I need to go to bed. so I can wake up and take a math test. oh shit. one that I haven't really studied for aghkshgdlg. I shall have to wake up early.

SO! [livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil posted a link to you are here: the journal of creative geography (!!!!!!) which made me whimper with glee because CREATIVE GEOGRAPHY oh academia you can be so RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME SOMETIMES. ahkhdlgkhsdlkfjsdlg

but I am busy I CANNOT TRY TO WRITE FOR THIS JOURNAL NOOOO I have [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange due in two months, and one of said months is NOVEMBER during which I am doing NANO (I got my prompt for the crossover exchange, btw, AND OMG YAAAAAAY I cannot give things away but I shall have LOADS AND LOADS of fun!) and then there's the SPN fic I've been writing off-and-on for a little bit with [livejournal.com profile] marycontraire 's birthday in mind (it's going to be late, but most everything from me is late these days D:) and well at least I finally finished that Susan fic and posted it! because the next three months there is going to be one hell of a lot of writing! NaNo = 50K, [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange = at least 1.5K but considering what I want to write will be probably at least double that, the SPN fic is threatening to be long if I can't curtail it (but I don't really WANT to), and the imaginative geography thing if I do manage to get around to it (which I had better!) promises to be full of ridiculousness and squeeing and stuff. *headdesk*

Happy two-days-after-your-birthday, [livejournal.com profile] marycontraire ! I'm sorry this is late, for some weird reason I thought your birthday was today (my brain is scattered). eventually there will be SPN girls-being-awesome fic for you! <333333333333 you're awesome!

Author's Note: The title is from Mnemosyne by Trumbull Stickney, specifically the lines "I had a sister lovely in my sight: / Her hair was dark, her eyes were very sombre; / We sang together in the woods at night." Part of me now wants to write more Narnia, just so I can title it from the first line of the poem, "It's autumn in the country I remember." I've been working on this off and on for a lonnng while.

You guys, this is awesome! I've never had an actual TV season to look forward to before - Supernatural was the first show I ever had to wait for episodes on (what? I went straight for the classics! Buffy, Firefly, etc.), and that was just for a little bit last year! But now I've got all sorts of awesome shows to look forward to and hopefully I'll stop binging on shows and just watch a few episodes every week. I can handle that! (before I go into my excitement, the post-apocalyptic WarGames AU is being worked on, but it needs a fair bit of editing and I don't like the opening STILL, and I've been busily watching SHOWS YAY! Also, [livejournal.com profile] narniaexchange has started posting, and there are some pretty awesome pieces up already. SO EXCITED AND HAPPY!).

This fall is going to be so awesome!

Heroes: don't look at me like that you guys! I basically watched/read my way through all three seasons (do you have any idea how much I adore TWoP?) this past week (I really need to stop doing this) and I'm tentatively excited for Season 4 - the second half of Season 3 went a long way towards being awesome again after the horror show that was the first half of Season 3 (the continuity screwups made my brain hurt). I really, really love Nathan and Peter, and because of inhibitions that Narnia fandom kind of completely stripped away, I ship Peter/Claire. What? Look at them! (I mean, it's not like half the show doesn't have completely incestuous subtext! and if it's not incestuous, it's gay subtext! sometimes both!). In short, I'm not like 'OMG YAY!' about Season 4, but I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

Glee: I was a little unnerved by the sheer amount of sex talk going on in the new episode (AND THAT SONG OMG so wrong and yet somehow REALLY funny!) and I'm crossing my fingers it doesn't end up being all soapy but it still delivered on being funny and adorable, so I'm still really really excited for all sorts of things about it! Especially if we get to see Tina more! (I LIKE Tina!)

Supernatural: The 5-minute preview at Comic Con! "I learned that from my friend Cas, you son of a bitch." OH, DEAN. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS SHOW TO BE BACK. *bounces up and down*

The Office: Yay for the office being back! That's going to be a lot of fun. XD

Merlin: ARTHUR/GWEN. GWEN/LANCELOT. I think the only thing that would make me happier about this season being potentially FABULOUS would be a Merlin/Morgana plot going (man, can you imagine how AWESOME those two would be together?).

SO BASICALLY, SO EXCITED.

In other news, oh my god school agh.

Title: tying ribbons around grief
Characters/Pairings: The Pevensies
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Mentions of sex, there-if-you-squint incest.
When: The various England intervals.
Summary: Because he has a way / of tying ribbons around grief.
Disclaimer: The Narnia universe isn't mine.
Author's Note: For [livejournal.com profile] katakokk on her birthday. Happy (slightly belated) birthday, bb! Sorry, I couldn't wrap my brain around anything as complicated as politics or future-Merlin stuff, but I still wanted to write you something. I hope you enjoy it. <333 The title and summary quote is from 1999 by Kevin A. Gonzalez.

I feel very happy today! Therefore, while I can, I am going to talk about happy things. Happy things! *is enthusiastic*

a) This song. It has the lyrics 'how many of them can we make die!' How can you not love it? XD

b) Okay, just music in general. Kasey Chamber's 'Nothing At All', Imogen Heap's '2-1', which was written for the PC movie (!!!) but wasn't accepted because it was too dark, and Britney Spear's 'Circus.' (stop laughing at me! I've loved it ever since I saw this vid, which is honestly the best meta-vid for nu!Kirk EVER.)

c) Every single thing in [livejournal.com profile] erasureathon , omg. SO AWESOME. *hugs all the pretty erasures* I have yet to finish commenting on them, but eee!

d) I am feeling  a lot better about the Narnia Exchange piece right now. I've decided to leave it Edmund POV, but there is a possibility that at some point there will be an accompanying Peridan POV because I really, really want to know what he was thinking during all of this.

e) This new trailer for New Moon. SHUT UP. JACOB IS AWESOME, AND THERE ARE WEREWOLVES. This is honestly all I care about.

f) yesterday my mother was at the meat market, and she said something along the lines of 'My daughter will probably be biking up tomorrow to get stuff for our dinner.' (She had to go to a college about two hours away today for meeting her new TA and other stuff.) And the guy was apparently like 'Oh, is that your daughter? The tall, skinny girl who smiles a lot?' Which naturally made me smile a lot. XD I do make a point of smiling and talking to people who are checking me out or helping me out at stores, and it was just really cool to know it got noticed.

g) I am getting some school done! Probably not enough, but I'm doing okay. And I got dinner made again today and had to be responsible, and, I dunno. I'm just feeling happier today. XD

h) I am so excited for [livejournal.com profile] narniaexchange ! Now that I'm not feeling hideously stressed over mine, I'm able to look forward to all the fabulous fics that are doubtless going to come out over there. I've already seen two, and they've both been absolutely marvelous, and I cannot WAIT for all the rest! It makes me want to get mine done and turned in even faster!

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Avatar: Yue: *glare*)
Stuff that isn't me whining!

1) the next Renesmee piece is considering killing me and taking over the world. It's currently clocking in at 2K, and I still need to go back, make sure Seth is mentioned, and it wants me to completely rewrite the ending and leave the Cullens out of it. Which, ugh. UGH.

2) So my mom is gone to Virginia for the weekend to see her parents and brother at the big family mansion they turned into a b&b, a place my dad is convinced God doesn't want us going near, hence making me worried he's going to freak out at anything and also the most responsible person in the house because so far my dad has suggested pizza, subs, watching the old Battlestar Galactica on a sort of marathon run, playing card games, and spent the rest of his time in his room not caring whether we're working or not.

3) If I do not get at least 2 Latin and 4 Government assignments turned in over today and tomorrow, I am so screwed.

4) Like said, I've been watching the old Battlestar Galactica because my dad likes it now, and it's kind of fascinating watching it and figuring out that 'hey, that's where they got so-and-so!' It's nowhere near as good, and there are nasty alien bug things all over, and honestly I sometimes want to punch the characters, but my basic reaction is still 'Oh, babies', and my excitement over characters I barely know is confuzzling my dad. Also, my really good guesses as to what's going to happen next. Hee.

5) My erasure, completely opposite to my narnia fic, is going surprisingly well! I've erased around a thousand words, maybe a little more, and am working on the rest now that Narnia is off to beta and I don't have to worry about it for a little bit more.

6) No, seriously. I have to turn in that Latin and Government. agh. need to work on it.

7) I completely overhauled my icons just a bit ago. It was lots of fun!

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (BSG: Starbuck: nothing but the rain)
urgh. done with first draft narniaexchange. I kept wanting to write military stuff and/or meta. instead, politics. gnarhhr.

but I have finally sent it to you, snacky, so. (I don't want to write it from Susan or Edmund's POV! I want to write it from Peridan's! I want to write Peridan being an awesome stray and the reasons behind him swearing fealty to Narnia and, uh, being fantabulous! narrrrgh.)
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Narnia: Susan: no one at her back)
hey everyone!

I need a beta or two for a Narnia fic, at this rate probably going to be over 2K but hopefully not much more than that. It's Golden Age, around five years into their reign, primarily Susan and Edmund and shenanigans. If you're available for that, drop a note and I'll hopefully get it to you by tonight. Thanks in advance! <333
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Mulan: Mulan: garden walk)
things I did today: have spent so far around 45 minutes working on names, types of animals, and rotation for Susan and Edmund's Guard so that I wouldn't make mistakes while writing the Narnia Exchange fic.

yes, my perfectionism is showing itself.

also, why is Twitter not working? how disappointing.

Edmund's Guard is primarily male (11 male, 5 female), Susan's Guard is primarily female (12 female, 4 male). the Night Guard is composed solely of male/female Guards, depending on the gender of the Royal (Susan's Night Guard is all female, Edmund's is all male). the idea is to make them as much at ease as possible. I even worked out a rotational schedule, and thought of all the amusing implications that happen when you have one male leopard and four females.

now I should try working on the actual fic, shouldn't I.

omg you guys heee! I was looking for maps of Narnia that actually showed me past Narnia itself (Calormene and Galma and etc.!) (which, by the way, I did mange to find, but if you have any especially good ones...) and I found this picture!

It's the part where she looks really really happy that is throwing me off. She's all "TREMBLE YE MORTALS, I AM JADIS QUEEN OF CHARN. WHEEEEE!"

oh, cedric

Okay, I'm pretty sure this is going to be a post on the scale of epic.

thanks and cracked teeth )
I've caught up with my f-list! I went back to around Thursday and hopefully caught everyone from then on. Sorry if I missed anyone!

Things I want to recommend to people.

A) [livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil drew Mary Blake/Renesmee. It is adorable.
B) Anything on [livejournal.com profile] houseofpevensie . I'm a bit erratic on commenting on them, but the writing is superb and I adore the characters.
C) [personal profile] animus_wyrmis posted her lovely Leah/Angela fic with no name. So pretty!

TV shows I watched while I was in a horrible mood - Chuck (about six episodes of the first season), Pushing Daisies (part of the first episode before I got kicked off the computer), Supernatural (a few of my favorite episodes), Project Runway (I have to admit, I generally skip to the reunion episode after my favorites get kicked off).

As proof that I really need to slow down on the fic writing and just concentrate on a few, I'm going to go ahead and do the 'give a line from each of your WIP's' meme. Um. For some of them it's more like post a paragraph.

harborverse, nostalgia!origfic, what images return (next renesmee), untitled susan!fic, untitlted narniaexchange, untitled erasureathon )

I must turn in one Latin assignment and two Government assignments, and then I shall return to play with fic! Renesmee metafic is being difficult. a) I completely forgot Seth b) I introduced the Cullens. I'm thinking that needs to be a later story, that this one should be only about Mary and Leah. I dunno.
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Doctor Who: 9/Rose: look away)
omg eeee!

[livejournal.com profile] remixredux09 has gone public!  I have no idea when the reveal is (oh, July 26, not that long), but LOOK AT WHAT SOMEONE WROTE FOR MEEEE.

Like An Onion Inside Out (The Doctor, the Queen, and the TARDIS Remix) a remix of Falls the Shadow

It is about twenty times more light-hearted than the story I had in mind when writing Falls the Shadow (this is probably good, because god my version is ANGSTY), it's sweet and adorable and the Doctor is a wee bit ginger (also Scottish and on his last regeneration) and Susan is so beautiful.

ANYWAYS. Go! Read it! The more Susan/Doctor fic there is in this world, the better!

(Oh yeah! Also read Ten Synonyms for Sensational, because it is illustrated and whimsical and it is DRACO MALFOY traveling with the Doctor. Heee! Also, calculations of the damage the Doctor's pout do to the universe are involved.)
be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Narnia: Susan & Lucy: brb being awesome)
*epic facepalm*

So what, in the face of impending deadlines for [livejournal.com profile] remixredux09 and [livejournal.com profile] narniaexchange , does Betsy's brain do?

Why, of course! It gives her plot bunnies for Slayer!Susan, with Peter disapproving of her Watcher and her Watcher disapproving of Peter/Susan (also completely confused about why party-girl-boy-fiend-lipstick-and-high-heels-Susan already has some pretty freaking epic fighting skills) and Susan going 'FUCK THIS SHIT, I'M OUT OF HERE' an average of once a day to her Watcher.

Subtlety, Susan. You are doing it wrong.

*more facepalming*

I'll just... yeah... *shame*
