SO! [livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil posted a link to you are here: the journal of creative geography (!!!!!!) which made me whimper with glee because CREATIVE GEOGRAPHY oh academia you can be so RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME SOMETIMES. ahkhdlgkhsdlkfjsdlg

but I am busy I CANNOT TRY TO WRITE FOR THIS JOURNAL NOOOO I have [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange due in two months, and one of said months is NOVEMBER during which I am doing NANO (I got my prompt for the crossover exchange, btw, AND OMG YAAAAAAY I cannot give things away but I shall have LOADS AND LOADS of fun!) and then there's the SPN fic I've been writing off-and-on for a little bit with [livejournal.com profile] marycontraire 's birthday in mind (it's going to be late, but most everything from me is late these days D:) and well at least I finally finished that Susan fic and posted it! because the next three months there is going to be one hell of a lot of writing! NaNo = 50K, [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange = at least 1.5K but considering what I want to write will be probably at least double that, the SPN fic is threatening to be long if I can't curtail it (but I don't really WANT to), and the imaginative geography thing if I do manage to get around to it (which I had better!) promises to be full of ridiculousness and squeeing and stuff. *headdesk*

Happy two-days-after-your-birthday, [livejournal.com profile] marycontraire ! I'm sorry this is late, for some weird reason I thought your birthday was today (my brain is scattered). eventually there will be SPN girls-being-awesome fic for you! <333333333333 you're awesome!

+ my library got in around 11 new Pratchett books. feast on those words. ELEVEN NEW PRATCHETT BOOKS THAT I HAVEN'T READ ASHKLGHDLFKDJGS. well, that's no longer true. I've already finished three of them - Jingo, Equal Rites, and Thief of Time, all three of which were FABULOUS. I now feel a great desire more of Susan Sto Helit, and thoroughly understand why so many people seem to adore her. she's fantastic! not to mention, my mom picked one of them up because she was certain she would disapprove, started reading, and got hooked! AHAHAHA. she picked up Going Postal, which I'd just brought home and haven't read yet, and was all 'how come I have never heard of him? he's hilarious! how did you find out?' :DDDDDD yayyy! I don't know how long her interest will last - probably until she finds out there are witches - but until then, hooray!

+ hahaha, TV this week was fabulous. more on Merlin... sometime later.

+ NaNo! NANO NANO NANO. in short, NaNo. :D I'm reworking my nostalgia novel into a story about revolution and magic and oppression and lots of geekery on language and philosophy and mythology and idealogy and who knows what else. it will be fun!

+ speaking of which, music! I went through my music and wrote down the songs that fit the story. so here's a... for lack of a better word... fanmix for my novel. heh. no download, but they're all available on songza.com

things!

+ [livejournal.com profile] katakokk , if you want a book that's basically all about the American Navy under sail, check out 'The Boys Were Men: The American Navy in the Age of Fighting Sail,' by Forrest McDonald. I think others on my f-list would probably like it too, as a matter of fact. It's a really nice book - I enjoyed it a lot.

+ you guys, I break my political/religious science to say this: how fucked up is this whole Rifqa Bary thing? honestly. unfortunately for me, I live close to where she came (of all states, she picked Florida? really?), and so have to endure articles about her almost every day, and every single one lowers my opinion of her intelligence EVEN MORE. you want facts, boy have I GOT FACTS. *headdesk* basically, wtf, Rifqa. wtf.

+ I'm getting very annoyed at the regular use by people I know in RL of the word gay as a sort of slang word for 'ridiculous/silly/weird/annoying'. I hear "that's so gay!" really frequently, and (this would be amusing if it didn't infuriate) most frequently at the Christian homeschooled co-op! yeah, I know. it's interesting to note that I don't think I have EVER heard gay used like that at choir, most likely because of Shane, who graduated two years ago, was in choir for ten years, has a fantastic voice, everyone liked him, and is quite openly gay. I just... the small-mindedness of the people at co-op is GRATING ON MY NERVES. A LOT. This is only one of the things that they are bothering me with!

+ [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange sign-ups are open! I have my sign-up form saved and am debating sending it in, though I'm sure I'll end up doing it. what can I say? I have no willpower when it comes to saying no to potentially awesome stuff.

+ I feel... twitchy? I dunno. Eh.

SO SO! [livejournal.com profile] eudaimon informed her f-list of the marvelous Fall Fandom Free-For-All. I'm feeling a little bit more relaxed this week (as evidenced by, y'know, ACTUALLY FINISHING FIC), and I have very little school until Wednesday, so I think I'll have time to fill a request or two in exchange for putting my own thread up.

So yeah, there's my thread. Now I just have to fill someone's request, maybe two, and we're good to go!

Edit: I knew I'd been forgetting something in my recent posts! For [livejournal.com profile] narniaexchange , [livejournal.com profile] athousandwinds wrote me absolutely fabulous Golden Age growing up fic, with onesided Peter/Susan and battles and running a kingdom and Lucy arranging assassinations! If you haven't read it already, you should! Now We Are Sixteen. FABULOUS.

Two things!

A) GUYS GUYS go to [livejournal.com profile] xover_exchange and nominate Narnia! It only has three votes so far. D: If I sign up for it (I'm really hoping that things will have settled down enough by then that I can *crosses fingers*) I want to be able to write/request Narnia! (and you totally want to read more Narnia crossovers, yes?)

B) Something that made my day brighter today - hanging on the wall of the Teacher's Lounge my mom was in when I went looking for her today at community college - part of the Benedictine society's orders, the rules on accepting traveling monks into your monastery. The last two lines? "But, if he shall have been found contumacious during his sojourn in the monastery, then it shall be said to him, firmly, that he must depart. If he will not go, let two stout monks, in the name of God, explain the matter to him." I looked it up when I got home, and naturally that section isn't actually in it, but it's still kind of hilarious.

+ a third!

I fell off my bike coming home today. D: I was on the far side of the road, because it's a fairly big one, and there's a drop of several inches to the ground there. A squirrel came running, I swerved, and ended up on the ground. I didn't hit my head, and I fell how you're supposed to, so all I got are some scrapes and a really stiff left elbow. Also a tear on the knee of my jeans. Mostly I'm just annoyed I was that stupid and happy I didn't break something or hit my head. :/

Oh! I've been meaning to drop this meme on y'all for a while! Ganked from approximately half my writing f-list. O.o

Give me the title of a story I've never written, and feedback telling me what you liked best about it, and I will tell you any of: the first sentence, the last sentence, the thing that made me want to write it, the biggest problem I had while writing it, why it almost never got posted, the scene that hit the cutting room floor but that I wish I'd been able to salvage, or something else that I want readers to know.

You guys know my fandoms! If I don't know it, I'll make something up.

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Narnia: Susan: the queen save god)
You guys, this is awesome! I've never had an actual TV season to look forward to before - Supernatural was the first show I ever had to wait for episodes on (what? I went straight for the classics! Buffy, Firefly, etc.), and that was just for a little bit last year! But now I've got all sorts of awesome shows to look forward to and hopefully I'll stop binging on shows and just watch a few episodes every week. I can handle that! (before I go into my excitement, the post-apocalyptic WarGames AU is being worked on, but it needs a fair bit of editing and I don't like the opening STILL, and I've been busily watching SHOWS YAY! Also, [livejournal.com profile] narniaexchange has started posting, and there are some pretty awesome pieces up already. SO EXCITED AND HAPPY!).

This fall is going to be so awesome!

Heroes: don't look at me like that you guys! I basically watched/read my way through all three seasons (do you have any idea how much I adore TWoP?) this past week (I really need to stop doing this) and I'm tentatively excited for Season 4 - the second half of Season 3 went a long way towards being awesome again after the horror show that was the first half of Season 3 (the continuity screwups made my brain hurt). I really, really love Nathan and Peter, and because of inhibitions that Narnia fandom kind of completely stripped away, I ship Peter/Claire. What? Look at them! (I mean, it's not like half the show doesn't have completely incestuous subtext! and if it's not incestuous, it's gay subtext! sometimes both!). In short, I'm not like 'OMG YAY!' about Season 4, but I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

Glee: I was a little unnerved by the sheer amount of sex talk going on in the new episode (AND THAT SONG OMG so wrong and yet somehow REALLY funny!) and I'm crossing my fingers it doesn't end up being all soapy but it still delivered on being funny and adorable, so I'm still really really excited for all sorts of things about it! Especially if we get to see Tina more! (I LIKE Tina!)

Supernatural: The 5-minute preview at Comic Con! "I learned that from my friend Cas, you son of a bitch." OH, DEAN. I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS SHOW TO BE BACK. *bounces up and down*

The Office: Yay for the office being back! That's going to be a lot of fun. XD

Merlin: ARTHUR/GWEN. GWEN/LANCELOT. I think the only thing that would make me happier about this season being potentially FABULOUS would be a Merlin/Morgana plot going (man, can you imagine how AWESOME those two would be together?).

SO BASICALLY, SO EXCITED.

In other news, oh my god school agh.

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (BSG: Apollo: smile)
I am feeling really, really creative these past few days, you guys. I mean, there was say a prayer backwards and the other heaven, and also tying ribbons around grief, and I've almost finished the fourth (and last for a while) Renesmee metafic. Not to mention I've been writing a fair bit of Holland and Cedric these past few days, and working on deepening my nostalgia!fic characters, because I'm starting all over with them for NaNo. It's going to be about road trips and revolutions, and yeah I'm pretty sure I'm nuts too.

You guys aren't going to believe what I started tonight. No, really, you aren't.

Tonight my family and I watched the movie WarGames, which is cute (and also which I'm about to spoiler a lot, so), in parts corny (oh my god, is WWIII any time to be discovering you want to kiss each other?) and in other parts touchingly adorable.

Naturally, as soon as the movie was over I finished my dinner and began to write an AU in which WWIII does happen, Falken never changes his mind, David gives up on the beach and Jennifer does not and heads out by herself to live.

I'm 99.9% certain that almost nobody even knows the movie exists, much less that there's a fandom for it, but I like the fic and I love my Jennifer, so I'm just going to write it and use it for my [livejournal.com profile] brigits_flame Week 1 submission. I don't really expect almost anyone to read it, but if you do I'll put a basic summary of the plot up until the point it goes awry before the story, if I get around to posting it.

My life in bullet points! (the last week or so, that is)

+ Mary is home! Obviously, this is fabulous. With her she brings Esther, who actually makes an appearance now, many games of Catan, lots of music, carved wooden spoons, and a need for adventure approximately three continents wide.

+ I've done a fair bit of writing. One Narnia fic, finally almost finished What Images Return, wrote Holland and Cedric just being, and a little bit of Celia and Sebastian together in Canada.

+ I start college classes this week. I mean, I was already taking AP American Government, but my two dual-enrollment classes start tomorrow. And one of them is a math class. Oh, joy.

+ The past three Fridays, I have biked at least 5 miles.

+ Esther bought two mice! The school year has started, and since she is working in a Montessori school, her classroom has to have animals in it. So she got mice! I have named them Hermes (black with no tail) and Apollo (gray and bigger, definitely the dominate one) after Greek gods. Esther has said 'NO we are naming them sensible names!' but she hasn't come up with any yet and people are starting to call them Apollo and Hermes. Sooo. *snickers*

+ I'd forgotten how utterly AWESOME the Season 4 finale of Supernatural was, and now having seen the promos for Season 5 I'm really excited. Also, for Season 2 of Merlin! Did you know this will actually be the first time in my life I'm watching a TV show as it airs?

+ I didn't sleep last night. No, really. I never woke up that I can remember, and I remember really long periods of being wide awake and fully aware of it. Also? Really vivid periods of dreaming/daydreaming, in which my mind took BSG and completely rewrote it. I suppose it could have been dreaming, and I woke up and didn't realize it, but I got very, very little sleep at most last night. I have no idea why this happened, though I suspect the aspirin I took for the killer headache I had yesterday afternoon (must remember to ask mom to get Tylenol).

+ During this period of not being asleep, my mind decided it needed to fix BSG. That show was fabulous, but after Season 2 it was a lot of talk and very little interesting stuff happened. It was only fun when Kara and Lee were spotlighting, which wasn't often enough. Honestly. I wanted space battles and Kara/Lee, and tey couldn't even give me that for more than two seasons. Hmph. Anyways, the first thing my mind did was think about biological warfare, and then characters started interacting and I went 'HEY that's Lee! And Kara! Wha?' So basically, the reworking of BSG is that there are no human Cylons, so while the surprise was large the Cylons only destroyed approximately a half of the fleet and bombed a few cities. Working from the idea of computer viruses, the Cylons had managed to come up with a clumsily effective disease that they injected into a few test subjects, who then then let 'escape.' The disease spreads rapidly at first, wiping out several million people, until doctors are able to develop a cure. However, a few mutated strains remain persistently, and prove difficult to isolate and destroy. I wrote three scenes out in my head last night. This is not happening. I have Cedric and Holland Celia and Sebastian to attend to! I have Harper and Connor to watch over! I cannot be writing fanfic that would most likely end up at least novel length!

+ Well, I am participating in [livejournal.com profile] autumnwrite, so you never know. It might get a little bit written. *headdesk*

be_themoon: I want a better world. By me. (Narnia: Pevensies: a posteriori)
Someone said recently that Uhura was 'just the love interest' in the Trek reboot, which irritated me a great deal. I wrote a bit of a rant/essay on women characters and then discovered that voila! [livejournal.com profile] sarahtales had done it better! so go read it if you haven't already! (since it's been making a lot of the rounds, there's a strong chance you have.)

You guys, this song is so cute/pretty/awesome! Mason Jennings sings it slow kind of slow and ... peaceful? and my sister Mary sings it with this fast upbeat pace and both versions are really fun to listen to/sing along with.

On to the Top Five meme! Picture/.gif heavy!

Top five things to cook )

Top Five ships for [profile] sagee_x3
5. Polly/Mal (Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett)
Polly's a girl devoted to her family, protective of her older, slightly slow brother, and plenty brave and smart. Mal's a vampire who decided war would be exciting, who's developed a coffee addiction to replace her thirst for blood, and who's snarky, rarely talks about herself, and is decidedly smart. And together they are so awesome. Unfortunately, there's no real artwork for the book that shows them. D:

4. Zuko/Katara (Avatar: The Last Airbender)

You know, Aang/Katara is sweet and fluffy and cuddly, but they're so young and Aang's only really got a crush on her (also, he's 13. I'm sorry, I draw the line somewhere). And I really do adore Zuko/Mai - I think it's a really wonderful relationship and I love the way Mai and Zuko complement each other. But Zuko and Katara work so well together, and there's always been tension between them, and she cared about him before any of the others really did, and he's had this almost fixation on her from the very beginning. They fit together so perfectly it's hard not to ship them. I really, really love how they fit together. (And that is post-series artwork by one of the main animators for Avatar, so.)

3. Starbuck/Apollo (Battlestar Galactica Reimagined Series)

You guys, this ship is fabulous. You should all ship them. You should all love them as much as I do. I really, really love these two together, in any respect at all, but especially as lovers. They work fantastically together, they're a really great team, she can make him laugh and he can make her actually smile, they know how to hurt each other and they try not to, they know how to fix each other and they try to, and seeing her in a dress makes him forget how to talk to women. Also? There's no take-backs. There are never any take-backs.

2. Morgana/Arthur/Gwen/Merlin (or any permutation thereof) (BBC Merlin)

First off, these people are all ridiculous amounts of pretty. Secondly, they all have ridiculous amounts of chemistry. Thirdly, they all run around constantly saying how much they all love each other. There is no end to how awesome these four people are, and I quite seriously do ship almost every permutation of this. The only one that's lost my interest is Arthur/Merlin, probably mostly because it is so obvious and everyone else in the whole world ships it. It is still a fabulous ship, I just currently find Arthur/Morgana, Morgana/Gwen, Arthur/Gwen and Merlin/Morgana the most interesting. (Also, I almost put Uther into the mix too, but I thought that might be taking it too far. XD)

1. Peter/Susan (Chronicles of Narnia)

You know what, guys? I get it, okay. C. S. Lewis is sobbing in his grave and needs anti-depressants, incest is wrong, they wouldn't think of each other like that, etc. etc. and so forth. I don't care (especially about Lewis, because his lack of research makes me angry). I love them together. He's the High King, the most important man in Narnia, and she's Queen Susan, his second-in-command, really, and they love each other. And it is as simple as that for me, now, though it took a fair bit of convincing originally. You want to know what convinced me? These and these. No more arguing. Just read them, even if you hate the pairing, because they are works of art.

Top five Peter/Susan moments )

I have two more things to do (Top Five fanon ships and Top Five canon ships for [personal profile] animus_wyrmis ) but I have to go to co-op in half an hour and I haven't finished my homework yet, and there's fourteen ships in all to detail (two honorable mentions for each category), so I really need to go finish that. I shall do them later! Oh my beautiful ships.

Because I'm really not up to a full length post right now. Later! I swear! When characters aren't forcing me at gunpoint to write them! (OUT OF THE HOSPITAL, HARPER.)

Stolen from approximately HALF MY FLIST.

Ask me my fannish Top Five. Any top fives. Doesn't matter what, really! And I will answer them all in a new post.

<333 I'm fine, I promise! Just really busy , with lots of school and cooking and taking care of the house and being responsible, which is lots of fun half the time and sucks the other half.

things I did today: have spent so far around 45 minutes working on names, types of animals, and rotation for Susan and Edmund's Guard so that I wouldn't make mistakes while writing the Narnia Exchange fic.

yes, my perfectionism is showing itself.

also, why is Twitter not working? how disappointing.

Edmund's Guard is primarily male (11 male, 5 female), Susan's Guard is primarily female (12 female, 4 male). the Night Guard is composed solely of male/female Guards, depending on the gender of the Royal (Susan's Night Guard is all female, Edmund's is all male). the idea is to make them as much at ease as possible. I even worked out a rotational schedule, and thought of all the amusing implications that happen when you have one male leopard and four females.

now I should try working on the actual fic, shouldn't I.

A) I got my teeth pulled it was very interesting and my mom said that if I ever have to get real anaesthetic she is tying me down. I asked her to videotape it. I could not stop laughing for like half an hour. My first words after the first tooth was pulled and Mom came back to see me was "I feel very unattractive." When I came out after the second tooth was pulled I said "I still feel unattractive but now I also feel very giggly." I have big holes in my mouth now, but the teeth came out in like thirty seconds and five seconds respectively once I was numbed. So yay!

B) EVERYONE GO HERE NOW OKAY. WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS. SHOO. GO. WRITE COMMENTFIC! ESPECIALLY IF IT INCLUDES CUTE MACROS! (omg someone do more mafia Narnia AU's! or Merlin mafia AU's! - wait why are you still reading this why are you not gone, GONE like the WIND?)

Things Betsy finds fun: making up pantheons. Mostly because it involves researching pantheons, which I find so freaking fascinating. It's amazing! It is like candy to my brain, or something. It's awesome!

Fun facts of today's research:

Alala, female personification of the Greek war cry! Ironically enough, her name means "dumb, mute, speechless." I find this amusing.

Ares was the personification of more of less impulsive violence and slaughter, Athena the goddess of strategic fighting (also wisdom, probably the reason for the strategic fighting). Mars, the Roman (ETA: things Betsy should never do in a hurry - write about gods.) god of war, on the other hand, was the god of manly valor more. Minerva, the Roman equivalent of Athena, tended towards the crafts side of things much more than the war side.

Want to guess how this train of research got started?

Researching the Hippocratic Oath, so I could rewrite it more or less appropriately for Cedric, because he is a doctor. Then I delved into who he would swear by, got out my old research for the gods of a different world (hastily built during Nano for about twelve days and then set aside, because I needed something fun to write that year and that world was much too realistic). Currently he's swearing by the Gods Without Names (alternatively, the Gods Without Faces, which is technically inaccurate), and the small gods, which is the general name for all the lesser gods of all the religions, who have kind of gotten jumbled together at this point. The Gods Without Names were always my favorites - they were going to be the Winter gods, for a region of people who had invaded and conquered around two hundred years before. There's five of them, and each one has multiple titles (and these are just the most-used ones). Each one is very much up to personal interpretation.

The Goddess of Yesterday (the Grey Lady, the Dreamweaver, the Dawndreamer)
The God of Tomorrow (the Grey Lord, the Morrowweaver)
The God of War (the Red God, the Nightbringer, the Blood God)
The Mother (the White Lady, the Sun Goddess)
The Maiden (the Receiver, the Faceless)

Uh. Going to finish rewriting the Hippocratic Oath and going to bed now. *facepalm*

oh, cedric

Okay, I'm pretty sure this is going to be a post on the scale of epic.

thanks and cracked teeth )
I've caught up with my f-list! I went back to around Thursday and hopefully caught everyone from then on. Sorry if I missed anyone!

Things I want to recommend to people.

A) [livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil drew Mary Blake/Renesmee. It is adorable.
B) Anything on [livejournal.com profile] houseofpevensie . I'm a bit erratic on commenting on them, but the writing is superb and I adore the characters.
C) [personal profile] animus_wyrmis posted her lovely Leah/Angela fic with no name. So pretty!

TV shows I watched while I was in a horrible mood - Chuck (about six episodes of the first season), Pushing Daisies (part of the first episode before I got kicked off the computer), Supernatural (a few of my favorite episodes), Project Runway (I have to admit, I generally skip to the reunion episode after my favorites get kicked off).

As proof that I really need to slow down on the fic writing and just concentrate on a few, I'm going to go ahead and do the 'give a line from each of your WIP's' meme. Um. For some of them it's more like post a paragraph.

harborverse, nostalgia!origfic, what images return (next renesmee), untitled susan!fic, untitlted narniaexchange, untitled erasureathon )

I must turn in one Latin assignment and two Government assignments, and then I shall return to play with fic! Renesmee metafic is being difficult. a) I completely forgot Seth b) I introduced the Cullens. I'm thinking that needs to be a later story, that this one should be only about Mary and Leah. I dunno.

Stuff I did yesterday
-went 'back-to-school' shopping, or our equivalent of it. my mom hates shopping generally, so we only go on big shopping trips two or three times a year. I got cute shorts and a t-shirt that has peace's definition on it and a skirt that is legitimately adorable with really big pockets (do you know how long I have wanted a skirt that has pockets and is still cute?) and two white church shirts and new white good shoes (they are so cute!) and also slips and a tank top etc. SO YAY!
-went through my two drawers and rearranged everything
-brought in two loads of laundry
-got half an assignment for government done
-posted part 2 of the Mary 'verse, which needs a 'verse name

Things I have done today
-wrote parts of Cedric and Holland in New Orleans with the mafia (oh god help *whimpers*)
-responded to comments on LJ
-determined that 'Don't Stop Believin'' is Renesmee/Mary's theme song, most definitely
-wrote bits of part 3 of the Mary 'verse (some in comments, mostly in my head - it's set in Harvard) and extraneous bits

Things I still need to do today
-make brownies for when Papa and Sam get back from baseball
-do the dishes
-get at least one assignment, preferably two, turned in for government
-work on Latin
-finish eating dinner
-get some typing up done, of any of the stuff I've got floating in my head/on paper (this includes Mary 'verse, Happenstance Harbor 'verse, my random nostalgia writing
added
-make graphic for and pimp [livejournal.com profile] erasureathon

So much! I'm going to turn the music up loud and dance while I do the dishes.

(other stuff in my head - it's weird, but generally the only time I actually talk about my depression is in when I'm in one of my down moods, and once I'm feeling better it's instinct to just white wash it and say everything's fine and smile a lot. I'm not exactly sure what this says about me. I do know that I'm kind of tired of feeling ashamed of something I'm doing my damn best to control, especially since it's not anyone else making me feel ashamed of it now that I don't talk about it to my sister, just me. it's stupid and frustrating and I keep doing it anyways.)

*turns on the music*

ETA: You know what? It has been one of those days (weeks, really) again. I'm getting tired of them.

Found more poetry!

Also, most important thing to remember while writing 'At the First Glimpse of Thunder' or whatever part of it I end up writing next -

This is an AU of Earth. It is not Earth.

This means that America doesn't have to win the Revolution.

Huh.

Completed fic for[livejournal.com profile] remixredux09 , got it beta-ed and posted it. Hope to begin work on[livejournal.com profile] narniaexchange more seriously tonight. Mowed a half acre of really thick grass and got a headache so bad even aspirin didn't help it, the evil little thing.

AND YET! JOY ON THE HORIZON, GUYS.[livejournal.com profile] erasureathon has opened for business! I might try to properly promote it tomorrow and make a banner, but for now this is just me going *squeeee* and signing up right this second, thank you very much. So the sign-ups are going to be going until July 25th, assignments will be out by Aug. 1st at the latest, and everything will need to be posted by Aug. 29th, which gives more than enough time to write it and turn it in and is also 10 days past the Narnia Exchange deadline, so yay!

Also, while explaining erasure,[livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil linked to Tom Philipp's A Humument the website, which has all the pages of the first edition and is so, so pretty. For instance -

see, it is
feminine
this was broken by
poetry

The woman we are speaking of is
over her ankles
in
the storm and fire
and
desire of art; and
the art of art

I love poetry! *more squeeing*

Today in things Betsy accomplished writing-wise.

-continued writing Buffy/Narnia crossover. Jumped time. Ignored actual canon show timing (of course!).
-edited M.Pop/S.Pev kind-of fic written by me and Lass and Wyrm some and sent it back. perhaps something shall come of this?
-procrastinated a lot
-had this conversation come up while writing roadtrip!origfic.
Katie: I stole Anna's iPhone.
Lance: Katie- what? Why would you do that? You have your own cell!
Katie: Hers was prettier. Also, I was inebriated. It seemed like a clever idea.
Lance: (in his this makes no sense voice.) Well, that makes sense.
-cracked up a lot (both laughing-wise and mentally)
-wrote meta-type-stuff in my nostalgia!origfic. it is turning into a lot of me alternatively hashing out my issues with religion and my family and being really really nostalgic. So. Uh. Also, writing poetry.

In other news! Ever heard of erasures? Well, [livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil and [livejournal.com profile] lassiterfics erased each other's Merlin OT4 fics and the results are drop-dead beautiful.

Then Sing, by [livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil , an erasure of The Ink Still Drying
Writhe, by [livejournal.com profile] lassiterfics , an erasure of Rewriting the Old Language

Interesting to note that while Zempasuchil's remains fandom-relevant, Lass deliberately left out proper names, so it technically has no fandom, except it does. So, um. Read! Seriously! Gorgeous poetry.
